I think they need to play that carefully. She needs to win fairly versus looking like it’s a complete handoff

I don't think anyone actually cares if it's a hand-off.

Eh, there is already some noise about how she was shoe horned in without people having a choice in the matter. Democrat base won’t care but swing voters might.

The reality is that all of her would be challengers have already endorsed her. And even when there is a primary, everyone who's trying to get the nomination acts like they're sure they're going to win it before they actually do anyway, so saying "I'm going to beat Trump this fall" isn't actually anything weird or out of line anyway.

personally I'm glad the likes of Newsom and Whitmer have already endorsed her. After the past few weeks of disruption and chaos, I think it's important for the Democrats to close the ranks and unify behind a candidate. I can't see a highly contested mini-primary doing any good here.
Hoping for Shapiro as running mate, but I'd be happy with Kelly as well. Either way, I hope the party just unifies behind the ticket.

I don't think name recognition actually matters that much in a two-headed presidential race, not in today's media environment. Everyone on the world will be sick and tired of hearing about the US presidential candidates very soon, no matter what.
Just because a low engagement voter knows a name means nothing about whether it makes them likely to vote. In fact if they are low engagement, they are also likely to be low probability to vote in general, and that correlates highly with not liking establishment options.
Additionally, I don't think everyones a terrible candidate. Shapiro I think would even be quite good.
Besides; a black female candidate is going to activate a lot conservatives who don't like Trump and who would otherwise likely just stay home.

Or we could go with the worst possible option: a milquetoast 2 minute address that ignores the situation entirely.

Tell me if you've heard this one. A black woman and a Jew walk into a bar ...
Not sure the majority of America is ready for that ticket.

Which just goes to show how fuct up the electorate is. Two people discounted because of things they have no control over, and they'd not garner votes against well, I'm not going to list it all. You get the point. I'm not even sure America deserves democracy at this point.

This is entirely GOP manufactured though, much like "she laughs too much"

Mark Kelly and Shapiro seem to be the obvious candidates for VP.
Both popular in key battleground states. Shapiro could blunt Vance's midwest bona fides, while Kelly was an astronaut and a military man himself.
The Dems have some pretty good politicians at the moment; it is too bad that Biden stayed on to run this election (there were a lot of people in 2020 hoping Biden would beat trump then step aside after one term) as i feel their are a half dozen who could've came out of the nomination.

Mark Kelly would be an excellent choice.
As would Pete Buttigieg. Unflappable.

Kelly and Beshear, IMO. Kelly probably moves the needle in AZ. Wonder how they deal with the whole "hey your wife got shot too, so you must understand how Trump feels, right" thing. But he's got that "no BS" sort of aura and the military background wouldn't hurt.

Getting 17% of black voters does not suggest you are very appealing to black voters...duh
White men with no college degree are Trumps only demographic...maybe ask yourself why. People mock you because you support a serial liar, pedo, felon, sexual abuser. Its not about ideology or differing opinions. Nobody that hasn't been duped supports Trump, you are the mark.

It makes zero sense for anyone to challenge her at this point. Its too late, and will just feed into the the Democrats are in disarray.
They need to get behind someone and unite and push forward. Even if they don't want to, its for the greater good of the world. Biden who spent his entire doing this to the point he probably wont enjoy the rest of his life did the right thing, the rest can as well.
