There will be coaches like Sutter out there too. At least here, the fans and city will GAF.
With respect to Backlund, it would be impossible to have a position more incorrect. Backlund has given everything to the Flames. His hatred of the Canucks is spectacular. In the twilight of his career, none can rightly blame him if he has had his fill of this inept combination of coaching/managing/ownership, and chooses to finish his career elsewhere.

I'm guessing if it were over they would probably change the background to "This Stream has Ended"? Maybe they're taking another break before Sutter and then Tre to close...

Honestly the lack of appreciation from the upcoming UFAs is a little off-putting.

You'd think they'd at least play it up a little more for the camera.

Then Zadorov steps in and shows that it isn't hard to be grateful and embrace your situation, even if you were disappointed as the rest about how the season went.

It might be best for this team to let all the fence sitters go where the wind will take them so we can get more guys in here with Zadorov and Pelletier's attitude. Especially if the rumours of player rifts in the room is true.

Got no time for that ####.

I think he handled himself well in his presser and I believe he can bounce back and be a good player for us. I don’t think he ever had much of a chance here with a lot of fans, so many people here hated him before he ever stepped on the ice for us, most of those people were quiet when he was playing well and were happy to jump all over him when he wasn’t.

Anyways moving on to Huberdeau, although I don’t think he ever looked as good as he could have, I thought the game against Nashville was his best game of the season, he played great and showed a lot of heart and I’m confident he’ll bounce back. Can we win a cup with him being our 10.5M dollar player? I dunno, that’s a tough one to answer but I think he’s going to be a lot better next season.
Part of the problem with these 2 players is how Sutter kept playing them together for a big chunk of the season, when it was clear they didn’t work well together. Huby was also vocal about being uncomfortable on the right side. You can’t force a square peg into a round hole. If I didn’t know better, it would be hard not to think that Darryl was trying to undermine Tre to make him look bad.

I guess?

But do you want to go through more "I could spend my whole career here" that came from Tkachuk and Gaudreau, and you know how that ended.

It's fine to be transparent. Do it in good faith. I prefer honesty versus lip service and trying to pretend to be good guys.

I think there's some players who are easier to deal at the dfraft and some who are easier to deal at the TDL. Vladar? Easier in the offseason. Tanev? The TDL, assuming he's healthy.

Feels like a long wait just to hear from Mangiapane & Pelletier lol. Unless Sutter or Tre are up I think we're done?

Pelletier isn’t even with the team. He is down with the Wranglers now.

It's a real question that needs to be addressed. There is no obvious route to having a dominant team in this city in the near future, so they need every player to be all in and to want to be here.

If Backlund and Lindholm have reached their wits end at being part of a franchise that can't seem to take 3 steps forward, I understand it but maybe it's time for the chapter of their lives in Calgary to end.

Terrifying to think of what the center position looks like without those two, but the assets that would come from moving them out would be substantial and could be used to shore up the position.

Yeah I dont get the disdain for Backlund and Lindholm's comments. This team is a bit of a dumpster fire at the moment and these guys want to win. If they think this season was the 1st of a downward spiral then of course they'll want out, but if this season was more of a 'blip' then who knows what could happen next year.

At least they're being honest unlike those lying liars Johnny and Tkachuk.

I bet there will be some really interesting exit interviews...

Every part of this man's body has to have been injured at one point. Tough run for a promising career

Getting freak injuries is bad luck, but I don't consider staying healthy as good luck per se. It's the baseline. If everyone starts with a dollar and some people lose theirs, that doesn't mean the people who didn't lose theirs were lucky. Same concept. It's neutral as far as luck goes.

I'd consider losing a top 4 defenseman for 82 games due to personal issues, and your top defenseman getting hit by a car as extremely bad luck considering how rare and unpredictable such things are. Certainly on a much larger scale than losing a player to an injury caused in a game, which is totally expected.

What's the case for keeping the GM if year after year some the better players want to leave the team?

It is typically a question for UFA’s but the PTSD from last summer has the fans wanting answers on guys with a year left which makes sense and also made sense as to why they pushed to lock up Huberdeau and Weegar

To me, it looks like Sutter has worn out his welcome, and the whole team hates him. Maybe doesn't even respect him. He's gotta go, asap, or we are in for a decade of misery.

I don't think it's a fractured room, when I read between the lines. Weegar went out of his way to say "It's a great group of guys".

Lewis (a Sutter favorite for no good reason) so far is the only player I noticed saying he wants to be back.

Clear to me, the owners need to eat the $8m and fire Sutter immediately.
