I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t impressed with Toffoli last year. He looked slow, didn’t mesh with anyone, and didn’t really do much except for snipe a few on the PP.

But he seems more dynamic and dangerous this year, filling some of the void created by 13 and 19 leaving.

Just a reminder that sometimes it takes time for players to get comfortable in a new environment, which hopefully means good news for Huby and Kadri.

You know I have a tendency to just stick to the outside and observe comments and either cheer or sluff them off. But man, for a person who has the mentality to know what is what, you certainly have no perception of reality.

poor competition = hottest team in the last 12 games
same problems = team is showing grit and finding ways

I don't understand, are you a fan? Or do you just want to focus on the negative so much that you have nothing but blinders on.

I know our year hasn't been the greatest, but during the most trying times they have pulled us back in and given us hope. Goalies are more focused and effective than ever and the playing energy is the best we've seen to date.

The #####head in me would normally tell you to get your head out of your a$$ but that wouldn't be constructive for a person that has some reasonable wits about them.

So how about when we win, feel free to let everyone just enjoy the feeling instead about inserting some unfounded blather that just makes you look worse than maybe you really are.

i know freedom of speech and blah blah blah, but just let us have our time. you can spew during the losses.

cheers.

I usually don't go into PGT after the Flame lost, too much negativity. I only go into PGT after a win, it's really frustrating that after a win, some will post negativity and can't people simply enjoy the win.

Great game to be at. Lost my voice, awesome crowd.
Not sure if it was on TV but before each faceoff, when Huberdeau was on the ice he kept directing everyone on the line and really communicating a lot of there and showing his leadership. You can see his confidence is getting there, he had a really good game regardless of the penalty shot.
On the other side of things, we still need to clean up giving up chances on the rush. Rasmus needs to practice his 2 on 1 defending right away, so many times this season he allows a pass across too easily and even worse, he allows give and gos. It's quite bad, almost like a forward defending.

I think it was more so Toffoli being forced to play with Calle Jarnkrok that probably hurt him the most down the stretch. Toffoli had proven in the past that he can be productive under Darryl’s system. But as for Jarnkrok, it took the guy 29 games to finally score his 1st and only goal as a Flame.

I don’t know how a winger is suppose to be at his best when his center is struggling so mightily. I also wasn’t a fan of the Jarnkrok acquisition, he was a winger in Seattle and then suddenly, in a blink of an eye, he was forced to learn a new system, with new linemates and a different, tougher position all at once.

I blame management big time on that one, it cost the team a decent 3rd line which was badly needed depth for the playoffs. Personally, I wanted Andrew Copp last year. The guy was so good in the 2020 play in round, I thought he was the Jets best player against the Flames all series long.

^^ so many people on here were insistent that Jarnkrok should be the target AND that he was an ideal centre (and would replace Monahan). I didn’t get it. He was playing wing with Gourde.

I think Jarnkrok actually played really well here, he just couldn't score to save his life.

I would have gladly re-signed him. Perfect utility player IMO. He has 18 goals and 18 assists for Toronto this year, and has even recently been playing on the top line.

I don’t think he was bad. But he was no centre.

I don’t follow the Leafs at all so forgive me for my ignorance, but isn’t that a bad sign for them if he’s on the top line?

Defensive awareness can be a bit of a problem for the leafs, so plugging in a jarnkrok allows players like Matthew's and Nylander to just bounce pucks in off his head while he takes care of the other two zones.
