A win is a win, but let's not kid ourselves, that was a pretty abysmal display by a team that should have been desperate for a convincing win against poor competition. Many of the same problems that plagued the team all year were front and center this game. Take the win to maintain pace, but this is one they should be burning the tape.

At first, I thought this was filmed at the Grand Canyon but then when they switched to a wide angle shot, you can see snow on the ground, so probably this is Montana or something. Gotta be cold in that silky little frock

You’re not going to win every game just because it means more to you in the standings. Canucks have a decent record as of late too.
I’m not calling a road win an abysmal display.

Especially one where they had to come back in the late stages of the third. There were at least a half dozen really good chances before that in the third alone that could have tied it, it just felt like something was going in eventually and they simply had to avoid giving up another goal until that happened. People talk about finding ways to win, that was a pretty good example of it.

First comeback win of the year man. Lighten up for once.

You should. If it were not for the win this board would be crucifying the usual suspects. Markstrom with a .692 S% in regulation. Some of the worst defensive coverage we've seen all year. Same poor lineup and bench management decisions leading to an inability to maintain momentum. Milan Lucic doing Milan Lucic things contributing to being behind and struggling to build momentum. All the things that have plagued this team all year were front and center in a huge must win game. The broadcast brought it up multiple times. Not a great showing except for scratching out a win.
Like I said, take the win and burn the tape. They live for another day, but more performances like that is not going to get the Flames in the post season. The team likely knows they dodged a bullet.

They're not suddenly going to be the Boston Bruins.
Scraping together wins and finding a way to win is the best anyone can expect right now. If they get into the playoffs, at least we can watch some playoff hockey for our team.
Everyone knows this isn't an elite team, there's no point in re stating it 82 times a season.

Lanny and Moneyhands as predictable as the sun rising in the east and setting in the west.
Flames are down their best defender with Zadorov playing higher than he should and the Canucks were on something like a 10-2 stretch. They should not be equated with the Blackhawks/Ducks/Jackets. And Demko was back in net, which makes them a tougher opponent on its own.
No one looks back on style points, just the results
Flames won that because they were relentless and didn't give up, and they persevered. Huge win.

And despite all this, and with Demko standing on his head they still win. But let's be pissy.

It’s hilarious the amount of oilers fans on this board that use flames-centric user names.
Once you realize who they are, it becomes amusing how insecure they are considering the ridiculous amount of luck/favouritism they’ve received over the years

The tiebreaker still makes it a daunting task. Essentially the Flames have to win 2 more games than the jets in the final 6. It makes the game against the Jets a definite must win.
The silver lining is it looks like the Flames have finally started to turn a corner and the Jets are fumbling around and probably have zero confidence at this point.
The Flames dug a huge hole throughout the season. Blew a ton of opportunities. But are still finding a way to climb out of that hole.
If they do manage to pull it off they will certainly be battle hardened for the playoffs.

I just wanted to echo again thank you to all the fans who traveled/showed up for this one. I tend to think this team is a little light on the mental toughness scale, and it may just be the fanboy in me but I do think that stuff matters, especially in a close must-have game. Thank you for showing up and being noticeable - your energy came through the TV.

Do flames fans clog up their board with this crap? I'd be shocked of that happens.
Also the Canucks are one of the hottest teams in the league right now. You can tell they are much looser than other teams. They aren't competing and aren't tanking either. The Flames had some bad luck in the early game too.
That was a huge win and comeback. Plus having so many forwards show up on the board of great. Not a perfect game, but a very gutsy win when it counted. GFG!

Aren't you the guy that was gushing about an Oilers, Colorado game last season? The Flames came from behind and won; Do you really need to water that down? Nothing wrong with fans being excited about their team.

I suppose the logical course of action is to simply put them on ones ignore list.
However I kind of enjoy watching the yearly cycle of entitlement > arrogance > disillusion > nerves > fear > anger > heartbreak > silence
