That actually sounds reasonable 7x $7m.

Every time I hear this. I laugh - The Players owe the owners Billions of dollars.... Good luck seeing the cap rise that much.

It's not a mistake. Because that implies Treliving doesn't know full well what the back end of the contract looks like. It's an educated gamble on the short term, with a price to be paid for the long term, and an expectation about the cap.

I bet Kadri in 7 years won't be worse than Monahan was this past season...and percentage of the cap will be less

They don't have to win the cup to make this a good deal.

If the team is a legit contender for a few years, that's what you're trying to build. And that would make it a success. Winning the cup takes some luck.

Huh. I guess that "come to Alberta" campaign launched by the Alberta government actually worked.

It's about a million too much, but it's not my money so what do I care.

This better not mean there’s no room to resign Weegar. I like Weegar 100x more than Kadri.

I think some people don't know what "all in" looks like.

Well this is what it looks like.

Do you want a real shot at this thing or not?

well, that was a bit unexpected.

I like Kadri, but the contract is a bit long and a bit high... That said, its not unexpected with a UFA and the team is better today than it was yesterday.

hopefully, he will continue to play at a high level for at least 4 of those years.

I'm betting it's pretty front end loaded, so he might be moveable towards the end.

It must suck to be so completely emotionally committed to a rebuild that you can't even enjoy that your team is good and getting better

And Kadri is a way better competitor than Neal, unfair comparison really.

It must be exhausting to be so negative that you can't gleam any excitement out of the Flames absolutely loading up and going for it the next few years. They just landed a McDavid killer who came up huge in the playoffs for the cup winning team. Buy a Kadri jersey and enjoy the next few years and don't worry, you will eventually get your rebuild at the tail end of these contracts.

If it was 5 x $7M I would have been fine with that.

I'm not going to worry about year 6 and 7 right now.

The flames are going to move an absolute metric buttload of jerseys this year with 13, 23, and 19 out -- and 91, 10, and 52 in.
