he had a great game outside of that penalty. He always plays really well against Pittsburgh. I think it started around when Crosby said Backlund was one of the hardest centers to play against several years ago.

He really is an effective shut down center but he really gets lazy other times. Anyway that shot in the shootout... wow. Do that more in the game please.

One thing about Jarry is the memory of his mental meltdown in last years playoffs is still fresh. He's playing great right now, no doubt, but a goalie for Canada in a best on best tournament has to be able to handle the pressure.

Think I heard on the radio that the team has only won 2 one goal games so far. Some additional finish would've made all the difference.
This feels like asking them to score less, so that they can score more? Scoring less makes blow out wins into one goal or closer games...where we wish they would score more...turning the game into a blowout...which we need them to score less in.

I am so happy that Sutter sees the potential in Kylington and allowing him to grow.

Just last year he was put on waivers. Now he is one of our top defenders.

The Flames completely dominated this game, ending up somewhere in the 75% xGF stat. If not for Jarry standing on his head and three posts, this is a 5-1 or 5-0 blowout. It could easily have been 3 or 4 zip at the end of the first. If the Flames DID NOT get two points out of this it would have been a complete fluke because honestly, no matter how good the goalie is at the other end, if you are 75% xGF and you have a moderately competent goalie (and the Flames have something far more than "moderately competent goalie" in both their goalies) you will win the vast majority of your games.

The Pens were exceedingly lucky to get one point out of this, and should pack it up and run like the Ikea commercial.
Despite all those great advanced stats and the Flames did play great, they still only scored 1 goal in regulation on 32 shots on a hot goalie. Plus the SO was 7 rounds, that's why I said the outcome could have easily gone the other way especially with Sidney Crosby on that team.

Markstrom was good though too.

Maybe it was more.... I remember 2 by Gaudreau, 1 from Lewis, and 1 more by someone else (Backlund?).
