I wonder if Price or Fleury will bow out and if so if a spot will open or if they'd just go with the remainder.

They only have 4 regulation losses in 22 games, so the close losses you're referencing are almost non existent. Take away the first game of the season vs Edmonton, and there's only 3.

1-4 SJS
2-4 MTL
2-4 WPG

3 of 22 games is not a systematic issue
Unrelated - those 3 games were 1 goal games, 4 empty netters there. And the opposing team scored in the 3rd to take the lead.

Pretty damn good that the Flames has had a chance to win in every game minus the first game against the oilers. And even that game, we outplayed the oilers - https://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2021020031.

Well Canada shouldn't even be medal contenders if they don't factor in current state of play.

I would take him over the other 6 right now.

I love how it riles up other fans every time Lucic scores. I love even more how the Oilers are paying for a portion of each goal.

Especially Mcbrokenleg. Lucic was his favourite player growing up and I'm sure it was mostly him that got Lucic to the Oilers.

You know it really shouldn't be a huge shock. He had two down seasons with a terrible Oilers team and one when he came over here. But he scored 10 in 56 games last year, and over 20 almost every other year since 2010. He's a guy who can score if he has time, he just doesn't have as much time as he used to.

Countries provided their 50 skater, 5 goalie list (Canada got exemption to add a 6th goalie due to Price's health status). These are the only players they can choose from. I believe they need to be in the IOC random drug testing protocol for several months prior to the Olympics.

Always good to see Crosby play. What a great overall player.

I wonder how many points he ends up with when it’s all said and done.

It’s really a shame that he played those three partial seasons. That was in his prime between 2010-13. He played only 99 games over those 3 seasons, but was producing at 1.6 point per game pace when he was in.

A quick calculation shows that if he was healthy, he could’ve had up to 235 more points at that pace.

Right now he’s at 1332 points

To be top 10, he’ll have to pass Esposito’s 1590. Have to think that if he had been healthy in his prime years, that could’ve been in the sights this year.

I think he’s still got plenty of runway to make it there if he does stay healthy

If he's healthy you take Fleury all the time, its wise to have an experienced guy who can step in if needed.

Carey Price is a risk because who knows where his game is going to be at that point in time.

I think if Price says he's good to go, he's good to go. He's a good enough dude that he'll take himself out if he thinks it is right.

Good game by the Flames. Like everyone has said, if not for Jarry (and 3 posts/crossbars), it should have been 6-0 Flames.

Great to see Lucic scoring, but need more from the 3rd line. I thought Mony was alright.

Lots of talk about Backlund being the goat with his penalty then redeeming himself with the winner while ignoring he had an otherwise brilliant game shutting down Crosby 5on5. Still one of the most underrated Flames.

Was it only 3 posts/crossbars? I could have swore I heard Rick Ball mention 7 at like the 2nd or 3rd period mark.
