FYP. Makes much more sense. They do need a centre and Monahan is a good centre.

That may have always been unrealistic. Such is the cap era.
At this point we're just lucky that Lindholm costs what he does so that we have a shot at affording mangiapane.

Hasn’t gone so good drafting those.

Would you consider the 2012-2014 Kings a bad organization for going all-in on Carter+Gaborik? Because they would consider themselves a 2x Cup Champ
Would you consider the 2019-21 Lightning a bad organization for giving up futures for guys like Savard, Coleman, Goodrow while bleeding talent like Verhaeghe, Gourde, and Coleman to cap crunches? Because they would consider themselves a 2x Cup Champ.
You go all in, or you tank.
Bad organizations are the ones who do SFA and just talk about culture and pride.

If you really think about it and what Weekes said is true, there is no way Buffalo doesn't already have the deal signed and done.
Therefore I call BS.
Someone call Dreger. We need some actual insider information.

At least with trade deadline, there's a deadline This fee like it could be over tonight, or 3 months from now.

Since entering the league in 2015-2016 Eichel is 18th in points for all centers until the end of last season. Top 5 seems to be a stretch.
And if you want to remove the shortened season that he missed some with injury. He's 14th.
I've never seen the player everyone else seems to think he is.
EDIT- 14th for points per game as well.

Carolina seemed fine losing Hanifin and Lindholm had mediocre numbers.
Brad actually made several shrewd roster management decisions there. Hamilton wanted out, Fox wasn't signing, Ferland was still useful but concussion issues were piling up. It turned out to be a big win. That's how I rationalize that package. guys who want out and aren't re-signing. Also, TBull8 can take a bow if it goes through.

Ferland was also a year away from UFA.

To me what the Flames offer should be lesser each day that goes by because it is another day until Eichel can play.
Kinda ridiculous that it has taken this long.

Educated guess, Valimaki and hence why he has been sitting.
Edit: to counter my own educated guess, could be Zadorov too, showcasing him.
|
If you want to increase any value Zadorov has, you certainly don't play him.

So is Gudbranson. Would be hilarious if either of those two were the "former first round pick" going back for Eichel.
I do think having Tkachuk being the centrepiece of the trade works best for Calgary in the long term, as I am not optimistic about him re-signing with Calgary. It's kind of hard to envision us keeping all of our centres, but if somehow we did it is obscene centre depth:
Eichel - Lindholm - Backlund - Monahan
Perhaps Lindholm goes back to wing or they try Monahan there when Eichel gets healthy, or someone gets moved, because I don't know if I've ever seen a centre lineup like that on any team before.

That sounds more like Buffalo's ask than Calgary's offer.
If it were the offer, it would be done already

The only holdup for that would be the Tkachuk contract situation. You don't want to trade a player like Eichel away to watch the prize return piece walk away in a year and a half. That one needs an extension in place.
