how does Kypreos know this info? I am sure he is almost ready for some games and I won't be sad if he goes straight to the OHL, there is always next year to see him in a flames jersey and hopefully for the next 20 years!

It makes the most sense to send him down. The Flames top 6 are clicking and there is no point in bringing him in to be in the bottom 6 when he can get lots of ice time for Kingston. His conditioning would worry me after missing nearly the whole season. Let him get it back and have him dominate next year.

Smart move. No reason to rush things, let him dominate in Kingston.

After reading this thread in order I really got my hopes up only to read the kypreos tweet. I think this is a decision we all knew was probably going to happen, and it's probably the smartest decision in the long run. Still tough to see because of the excitement of what Sam Bennett might be. I'm glad our GM isn't getting caught up in the moment however and making educated decisions.

Wild speculation but perhaps draws in for Glencross, who will be scratched pending a trade?
He can't draw in because we have no room on the active roster without demoting Granlund or Jooris.

(or trading Glencross)

Byron could go on IR if he's still hurt.

Even going to Kingston, we can still see him back here later in the season.

I don't think there's too much to worry about, no matter what decision is made.

I'm like anyone ... lots of anticipation about this guy playing. I see the AHL conditioning stint as a no brainer because it gives the team options, and flexibility.

But if I had to pick between two extremes

a) Adding him to the NHL roster now
b) sending him to the OHL now

I'd choose b) every time.

It's another example of the mgmt group not letting ticket sales, media, pr, or shiny new toy issues cloud their long term judgement.

Approaching Glencross is a good sign, assigning Bennett would be another.

Sixteen games left in the regular season for the Frontenacs but three this weekend. They play tonight, tomorrow and Sunday afternoon. Assuming he gets sent back tomorrow he could play Sunday but maybe he waits for Wednesday. That's 13 games, 13 important games because Kingston is only one point up on a playoff spot.

Adding Bennett would be a huge boost to the already injury riddled Frontenacs. Maybe they go on a run with him and finish in the in the 5th-6th spots in the Eastern Conference to avoid a match up with the Oshawa Generals.

As for the Flames and Bennett.. this is the obvious but also the smartest move. As one of the more outspoken Bennett supporters since well before the draft don't rush the kid. Hopefully we see some highlights out of Kingston when he gets back there.

I hope this is true. Right now is no time to break in an 18 year old rookie that hasn't played in a long time.

I was getting scared that they might get caught up in the moment with Bennett, but it sounds like cooler heads will prevail.

Not televised but if you really want to watch - you can stream here - http://ohl.neulion.com/ohl/ (official/legal site). $6.99/game. Warning that it will be a local low budget broadcast. I know when I used to watch the OHL games on TV Kingston broadcasts were awful but I know some of TV markets have gone to HD lately so it may have improved.

If he is sent to Junior I really hope he gets traded to a legit contender.

To be fair, it isn't that hard to manage young prospects in the NHL. Template has been laid out up north....you just need to do the opposite of what Mulletville would do.

I am all for B as well. This boy has lots of time to playin the NHL, let ensure all the i's are crossed and t's dotted prior to him starting in the league.

There is only a handful of OHL regular season games left, the OHL trade deadline was back the first week of January.
