I can't imagine Diaz doesn't get signed now.
Bummed a bit about Yonkman, hopefully he stays in the organization and gets a spot in Adirondack. We could really use him down there.
I was also hoping Gaudreau would be sent down. The lazy bum hasn't done a damn thing since last night.

Cuts make sense, for the most part. Can anyone pull together the remaining players in camp?

Even last year in the pre-season he was pretty impressive, at least given that there weren't a lot of expectations. Good to see him growing on that.

So they still need to cut 6 forwards, 3 defensemen and a goalie?

They're on the cuspid of something special up there.

So 33 players left at camp. With 9 players still injured, we have 24. If the injured players stay as is, then everyone else, except Ortio, plays the opening night game. Wow.

ten more cuts. I think Sieloff is a given, as is Wotherspoon once he's fit; also one of Potter and Diaz will not be on the starting roster and Ortio obviously goes down too. Up front, I think Jooris will go down at some point ... no idea how the rest will turn out. You can easily make cases for each of Gaudreau, Baertschi, Ferland and Bennett to make this team.

Don't get me wrong I am happy with what Jooris has shown. I am just saying that the way the organization sits right now on RW depth, Jooris is pretty much the only option the Flames have in terms of a right shooting RW.

I wonder if maybe the only thing pending is that they are watching the waiver wire for a while to see what freebies will be available.
I hope they do sign him though. Out of the 3, I think he stands the best chance of becoming a tradable asset in the future.

Think the team has seen enough of Bennett, once healthy I think he gets sento back to juniors. Injured twice already clearly means he is not yet big enough to play his game against NHL professionals. Don't want to set his season back by staying it with nagging injuries.

Before the start of training camp I thought this might be Reinhart's year. Should be a strong leader on the baby Flames this year. Maybe awarded an "A"?

On defence I think these are left:
Brodie
Engelland
Giordano
Russell
Smid
Wideman
Potter - injured?
Diaz
Wotherspoon -injured
Sieloff

wow, well done jooris, looks to be one of the last cuts this preseason.
with backlund hurt (and if bennet gets sent down), our centers currently look like:
- stajan
- monahan
- colborne (if he plays center)
- jooris
granlund (hurt)
Smells like he may have earned himself that 4th line center role given his strong play?

Been a while since I posted anything but I think this is a good time to chime in.
As a fan I hope JG stays up with the Flames (a popular sentiment by the sounds of it). However, I think for the organization the best thing will be to give him time in Addy. Not only will it be a good place for him to round out the finer points of his game while building confidence, it will allow a vet to improve their stock throughout the league. You send a vet down to Addy and there's a chance you lose that asset for nothing. If said vet proves to be worth something in the NHL, you may pick up a later round pick or prospect.
For Sam, another year in Jr. will not be a bad thing. Give him a crack at the Flames next year after another year of physical maturation. What's the rush?
