Scoring Winger
|
Just wanted to chip in how easy it is for a twitter account to be hacked, especially if the password is not complicated enough. It was an eye-opener when my account got hacked although I have no idea anyone would hack into it. I looked at my homepage and saw a vulgar tweet that I did not write. It was not on my phone and I am the only one with access to my computer.
Anyways, it was a bit scary for me and I ended up changing my password in everything. It was no harm, no foul as my twitter account was essentially devoid of any followers so no one actually saw the tweet. I only signed up to get the twitter updates from hockey media and players, and luckily had a grand total of zero followers.
There are a lot of excellent hackers out there and I have no doubt that Seguin's account got hacked into. The difference between me and him is that he actually has followers...lol

Tyler Seguin’s party lifestyle irked Boston Bruins, father says
Quote:
Tyler Seguin’s father says his son is like most 21-year-old males, only he’s often trapped in the celebrity spotlight.
Paul Seguin admits his son enjoys the bar scene and sometimes goes out until 2 or 3 a.m. As a hockey star who is recognized anywhere he goes, his public outings are frequently tweeted out.
Word, however, got back to the Bruins executive.
“Him having a good time occasionally, and it being in the media, this was something that the Bruins thought should never happen,” Seguin said. “Even if it happened once or twice or three times, the Bruins didn’t like this happening even once.”
Seguin, 48, said his unmarried son likes to socialize with people his age.
“Who do you turn to when your teammates are older and you are by yourself and your family is in Toronto?” his father told the Star.
“With all respect to David Krejci or Milan Lucic, when the game is over, they go out with their family and hang out in the back of a restaurant. They’re nice and quiet and no one tweets about it. Tyler looks to his friends for comfort and where do his friends go? They go to the local bar.”
However, Seguin says his son has always been a professional in his approach to the game and never stayed out late before a game. He would mostly go to bars after a Saturday game when the team had the Sunday off.
The Bruins began questioning Seguin’s lifestyle during the first-round series against the Leafs, said his father, who spent a week in Boston going to dinner and movies with his son during the playoffs.
“I started to hear little bits and pieces of it in the Toronto series,” he said. “They were unhappy with his performance, but they should have termed it their performance.”
He said the Bruins asked him, “Is there something going on? Are you staying out late? From that moment, they started to lose faith in him.”

Playing with Boston boosted his plus minus, but don't think for a minute that his offense was bing inflated playing there. Boston has better defense, 2 way forwards and depth.
Not to mention he moves to his natural position, and will get about 3 more minutes of ice time a game minimum.
Oh yeah they also have radek fasek and nichcushin ready in the next 2 years.

Not to rub it in New Era but....
Tyler Seguin recorded an assist in Tuesday's loss to Chicago to extend his point streak to 10 games.
He has racked up seven goals and 10 helpers over that span. Thanks to his recent surge, Seguin ranks fourth in the league with 75 points in 70 games this season. He's enjoying a career year for the Stars in his first year with the organization.

Reilly Smith ... just wow. Thought he'd only be a throw-in, but boy, what a season by him. Looks like both teams came out great which is always nice to see when there's a big trade.

Wacky bump...
but the Bruins stick to their identity and move out talented guys who don't fit it. I think in the long run, they've shortened their run by moving guys like Kessel and Seguin but if it is what has helped them win the cup once and be a better team in the short term it is probably worth it.

If it wasn't for Smith this deal would have been a disaster that could have cost him his job. Eriksson has been injured and now playing on the third line. It looks like his numbers are closer to that of the lockout year then those while playing wingman to Richards and Ribiero.
I have been reading some really bad things about Joe Morrow (more rumours than anything) but being traded twice and at one time being highly thought of raises some flags.
Peverly had been a pretty nice addition to Dallas too before the whole heart condition.
Overall I think Dallas wins this trade, but I think both teams got what they wanted out of it (Dallas long term/add a franchise player, Boston dump salary, get 2 way players, and try to win now)

IMO the Bruins micromanaged him. It wasn't like at his age on a veteran laden team that he was being counted on to be a leader and the guy keeps himself in phenomenal shape so it's not like he was a party animal that rolled out of bed and to the arena. I don't have any issue with them being concerned about him going out on occasion but to give up on a talent like that at his age is just poor asset management. Teams have to be delusional to think that every 18-20 year old player is going to be all business every day at that age.

Still to early to truly judge this trade but if Seguin can continue to improve I think Dallas will be the obvious winner.

Heck if he never improves but continues his career at his current pace the Stars are the obvious winner. If he continues to improve it will go down as one of the worst Bruins since the Thornton trade.

Seguin is a top line player, and someone you can build around. I'm still not happy that the Bruins traded him.

If the Bruins make it to the finals, and they are clearly the favorite in the East, I'm not sure you can ever call it a losing trade. Reilly Smith has been nothing short of a godsend. Eriksson had a pretty bad injury this season, but is always a 70pts player. Fraser is meh. Morrow is a former first rounder who was highly touted as of the last deadline. No where near as bad as some make it out to be. Seguin wasn't an essential piece in Boston, and the Bruins haven't lost a step and managed to get good value for him.

...and the Bruins have the most points in the league. They're a deeper team than they've EVER been, and IMO, the favorite to lift the Cup in June. Eriksson's playing on the third line... but it's probably the best third line in the league.
I don't think they'd undo that deal at all.

It helped both teams so I guess it's a win-win situations on both teams. Those are the trades that any GM will always willing to do.

This was definitely a win-win trade. Seguin is finally getting an opportunity to play first line minutes in his natural position and Boston added some depth to their already very deep team.

I still can't believe there were some on here who didn't want the Flames to get Seguin... I guess there are always people who don't want to pick up anyone; Carter, Turris, Seguin, ROR and a few others who all became "available" but people didn't want the Flames to go after because they just weren't worth it. Depending on the cost, any and all of those guys should have been targets for the Flames.
