Are you serious? Whitney is a better set up man then any current Boston bruin, Jamie benn is a star already and is only getting better, those are two pretty wicked line mates to be playing with.

Playing with Boston boosted his plus minus, but don't think for a minute that his offense was bing inflated playing there. Boston has better defense, 2 way forwards and depth.

Not to mention he moves to his natural position, and will get about 3 more minutes of ice time a game minimum.

Oh yeah they also have radek fasek and nichcushin ready in the next 2 years.

Yes but Whitney is not as good as Adam Oates..... and they are about the same age.

I like the deal from the Stars end. For Boston, the deal will be judged based on how whether the deal helps the Bruins return to the Cup Finals.

I think in almost any professional sport, partying is part of the lifestyle of a professional athlete. There have been many rumors of player X partying like crazy and still showing up and performing their jobs the next day. Very often those rumors are leaked to get that player to be more responsible. What I will say is that most of the time these rumors, while true, do nothing to change that players behaviour, but rather hurt that team dealing him because they hardly ever get a player of that value back. A couple years ago a friend of mine here met Seguin at a house BBQ and got a pic with him, but not before he was asked to hide his drink in the picture (as most pro's don't like showing they're drinking in pictures). Apparently he was known to party around here, but I really find it hard to believe he did it to that extent, considering he likely goes out with his group of teammates. Eriksson is a good player who'll fit in nicely on Dallas, as is Morrow, but Seguin and Peverley are good starting pieces for Dallas. As long as the back issue rumors are bunk, I think Dallas wins this hands down. Jimmy Nill wouldn't deal for a party boy in the strip club capital of the world.

This is a good deal for Boston now, but in 2 years Seguin will be the much better player. It is hard to say who got the best of the prospects swapped.

Safe to say the Taylor vs Tyler debate can now be laid to rest

This could really help Tyler Seguin if mature as he said that Mark Recchi was a great mentor for him in Boston, he now works in the front office for the Stars.

Doubt it.

Seguin is going to play with Jamie Benn and could turn into a 90-point guy in a year or two - plus he'll play centre which has a lot more responsibilities than the wing.

Five years from now Seguin will probably be the more valuable player.

This is a trade that shouldn't be classified as having any winners or losers in my opinion. The Boston Bruins with their current lineup should have a 4 year window to compete for the Stanley Cup. The Stars are also doing a great job of building a great team which at the moment is looking like they have a chance for the postseason in a season or two and then ultimately compete for a Stanley Cup. I think this is a trade where the Bruins are going to be at a different level than the Stars now and in a few season when the Bruins time to compete is over the Stars are going to take their place as the contenders in the league.

It's clear we would have had to part with our #6 overall pick to get Seguin in Flames silks. As it stands I'm happy we ended up with Monahan instead. Loads of potential & no previous baggage (puck bunnies & Chang).

Good to see the Boston sports tradition of leaking all kinds of bad info after they move a player doesn't just apply to the Red Sox and Patriots.

Personally I see this trade as a win-win for both teams. Seguin maybe wasn't enduring himself to coaches/management and for him they get one of the more underrated stars in the game in Eriksson. Yes he's older but not that old and this is a team that has about a 4 year window before possibly declining and they need to focus on winning now and Eriksson will help being a great offensive winger. The Stars get a potential franchise center that is still years away from his prime that needed maybe a change of scenery.

I remember getting into an argument here on how Seguin is a much better player than Hall.

Quote:
I didn't mention Sequin at all period. Hall came across a bit whiny and overly stupid in that interview, on top of that pulling a hot shot move like that without any setup was comically dumb.

I would take Sequin 10 time out of 10 before I took Hall, I said it on draft day that drafting Hall over the TS was possibly one of the dumbest moves that Lowe made and showed that he is as has been scientifically proven a moron when it comes to team building.

Love the trade for both sides, as it helps both teams out in their own ways. Boston now having Bergeron, Krejci, and Karlsson as superb two way forwards could be deadly. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Boston made it back to the Finals again. They're only getting better really, as they they should be adding some decent players from their farm team and elsewhere (really liked what I saw out of Soderberg in the playoffs in limited minutes).

I am really glad that the Flames didn't pay up to the required level to get Seguin. Glad this rumour is over.

Still laugh at the people who say 'you do whatever it takes to get this guy'

Really? Whatever it takes? Every asset has a value and over-paying for that asset isn't good management.

It's like the highest bidders on ebay saying "I won!"
