Lol poll is dead even at 43/43 at the time of this post, so I think CPers will be ok with either of these two. If they go off the board, if either player is available, then I think there will be a meltdown

He also has a high hockey IQ and a great work ethic.

When it comes to a 1st line center, we should focus on the one with the highest offensive ceiling available to us. Cause we can't afford for him to turn into anything less that a top line talent. Not implying anything about Monahan, for all we know he could be another Toews. But when we start talking about sacrificing offensive ceiling with our highest pick in 15 years, that's where I'd be really cautious.
Toews is considered a really good 2way/defensive center who's great at faceoffs. He also is a PPG player.

Just because you're a "defensive centerman" doesn't mean you won't put up points or don't have as high of an offensive ceiling. If anything it should mean your line has a better chance of having the puck more often than the opposition.

From what I've seen, Lindholm works just as hard, backchecks, etc. I think the whole "Monahan is a defensive C, Lindholm is more offensive" is being exaggerated.

Not really. The majority are completely fine with either player and if the other is chosen over their choice they'll still feel confident we got a really good player.

Odds are really good both Lindholm and Monahan will be available at #6.

If they've been taken already, it means 2 of Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin, Barkov, Nichuskin are available. While I don't want the Flames to take Nichuskin, if our consolation prize to neither Lindholm or Monahan being available is one of Jones, MacKinnon, Drouin or Barkov, we're laughing.

I completely agree that if both (or even one of) them are sitting there when Feaster takes the podium, and we don't grab one of them, this place will erupt. The remaining "top10" simply don't fit what the flames drastically need.

I chose Monahan based on his size and grit factor. He is being called the best 2 way player in the draft and has a high hockey IQ. Similar things about good 2 way play and high hockey IQ are being said about Lindholm as well. I was swayed to Monahan based on the grit and Canadian factor but would be happy with either player like many who voted.

The funny thing is for me I've never seen Toews as that true elite scoring talent. He's generally not a PPG scorer, though that may speak to the depth of the Blackhawks. He is without doubt elite in terms of being a complete player and absolutely someone you want to build around. So I'm less worried about picking the highest offensive upside if there is a more complete player available.

I don't have an opinion specifically on Lindholm vs Monahan, I just hope we don't end up with Wayne Primeau 2.0

From what ive been reading I will be very happy with either player. Voted Monahan mainly due to him most fitting a glaring need, but really both players fit the need pretty well.

In my opinion the only way both are not on the board when we are picking is if Nichuskin is still on the board. I don't see any scenario when one of the big 4 slips to 6th

After watching a Lindholm video I want Lindholm. Then I watch Monahan clips and I want Monahan. Guess that means I'll be happy either way.

Regardless, whoever they decide to pick, I'll be stoked!

Looked to me like Hedman turned the corner this year. Ultimately, it's a totally different measuring stick for defencemen.

Just a question, if Monohan ended up carving a Langkow career, without knowing what Lindholm's career turns out to be (nor Nurse), would you be happy?

Ready to be crucified, but if Nichushkin is available at the 6th spot, I would like to see Feaster grab him.

If only there was a way we could get Monahan and Lidholm to go head to head in a best of 7 face-off drill. I am also on the fence but Monahan's face off proficiency intrigues me. A skilled and big forward who win face offs would instantly help the Flames.

Tomorrow I might like Lindholm better...

Especially considering the depth they have at center and the redundancy when you consider Jordan Staal is a similar 2-way center to what Monahan projects. That team really needs a franchise defenseman or two.
