I think fans should start boycotting going to games until Feaster is gone. I've been someone who has defended Feaster for the last couple years but this is awful. The only part of the rule that is new is the Avs don't have to put him through waivers but the team offering the offer sheet should be the ones that looked into this. Throw on top of the mistake made by the organization you still can question if it was a smart move to begin with. Featser and Ken King have to go...now. Deadline is in 1 month we need the new guy here well before the deadline

...I want to vote for "Yes" again. This is indefensible. We would have lost him on waivers, we would have had no choice in the matter.

What incompetence. It's mind blowing.

Yup this is a huge blunder. The flames could not afford any bad PR as is ,considering the "win now" philosophy that no one outside of Calgary believes in.

In a couple of months the only thing that is going to be remembered is that the Calgary flames were a large part of this. Bad PR for a team that wants to "win now" and pick up UFA's.

How about we Fire the Owners?
They are steering the ship, not Feaster.

He should have known. It's his job - especially since the guy's a lawyer.

He has to go.

Brian Burke would have to be a candidate. Based on ownership meddling though there's no way he'd come here.

Just when you don't think it could get any worse, it does.

They were screwed 8 days from Sunday.

Highlights from the games he played in after the start of the season...

He's #37 in blue in the first and in white in the second.

Ridiculous.

A technicality no one understood, no one anticipated, and had no impact will not cost anyone. Or should not. I suppose if enough red oilers bitch it will eventually cost him.

It's his job to understand.
And seeing the actual exemption in CBA, it doesn't seem too complicated. I don't know how all these "smart", "law" people missed it.

Fully agree. However if he did become GM you know that ownership mandate would be dropped. But like you said it's not going to happen.

Red Oilers? Take a step back. Not being informed does not justify as an excuse.

I'm undecided on what (if any) consequence should come of this. Wait and see what the response if any comes from the front office.

If the Avs wouldn't have matched and the Flames had gotten OReilly, Columbus would have had first dibs not Colorado right?

Avs would have lost him to free agency, not lost him by waiving him. So they wouldn't have had first dibs to reclaim him.

Columbus almost made out like gangbusters.
