On the PS3 side, we're gonna have two leagues if there is a user count greater than 30. (People who've signed up previously in this thread may not when we start the process) The environments will be the same though.

If there are two leagues, then there will be two commissioners, so they can handle the actions that are in their own league. We could get that set up once we know who would be in which of the two leagues. Most likely will randomize which people go where.

I'm not gonna make the sign up thread until next week. At that point we'll still have two weeks until release and most likely won't start the league itself until a week after release. That's plenty of time to get signups done and get the team draft done.

Those interested in a simming-only league could probably start one pretty easily offline. Throw up rosters, set rules and away you go.

The entire idea of having GM connected finally online is so that games can actually be played (though speaking personally not everyone has time every night to do this).

Yeah I think we're looking into this sim vs non-sim thing too much. GM Connected gives us the option to play the league how we want to, so let's just allow people to do just that!

I agree with what Jobo is saying. Two leagues, two commissioners. And randomize who goes to which league. The only thing that will remain consistent are the settings for the league. Pretty excited about this, should be fun.

If there is 2 leagues it would be better to have separate commissioners in both leagues. That way the commish can be more focused on their league rather then both.

should we have some sort of team draft once we get 30 players? Do a random draw then pick your team? Or just fly with it, first come, first serve.

Not talking rosters.

Hate to say it but the game feels exactly the same as when I played my guy with base agility and 13's.

How, though? The skating physics are totally re-done, when I could usually win 5-0 against all-star AI now, I'm having trouble winning against Pro AI because of the new Skating, Defense, and Goalies ( big one )

It feels really new to me, and I'm excited to be familiarized with all the new features soon enough.

I like this idea. Set a cut off date and then do the draft. If there is still room people can be added just go to the bottom of the draft, until we start playing.

I think this really depends on what mode you played. I only played EASHL so I tailored my player to how I like to play.

I set my player up with base agility (65) and 13" skates. The turning feels the exact same to me. Now for players who played with high agility or other modes in which the players used 11" skates and had 80+ agility they will feel real different.

TBH I still think the AI is weak, I played 3 games and got 21 goals, pretty much the main reason I only play EASHL.

Once we reach the cut off date to officially register for the league, we'll immediately proceed with the team draft. The order will be randomized. We'll run it like the casual CP drafts that been done on the forum before; player picks their team then make next person up for selection aware it's their turn via PM.

By the way, should the Commissioners take note of our gamertags just for reference. Maybe make a master list of each CP member's user name and gamertag (or whatever they call them on PS3)?

Just for reference, my Xbox gamertag is TomFromMyspce.

It feels completely different, it's like controlling a bowling ball on ice now. A lot of breakaways now though because of the explosive start speed when skating forward, defence can be caught out of position a lot, I like it.

I used 13" skates as well. Agility wasn't what I had, I liked speed. The AI isn't good at all. I'm playing All-Star every game and I'm still winning every game, easily. I'll probably play on Superstar in Be a GM.

TBH I don't like EASHL because I play goalie, and hell that delay stuff really gets me. The main reason I don't like it is because I play on a team that is actually quite possibly the worst on Xbox. The only reason we win any games is when I play offense, and that's rare (3 man team, 2 are my friends and wow, they suck).

I think I'll try it out with CP though, I'm assuming we've got much better talent than what I played with. I was a superstar 3 goalie and that's playing on a team that couldn't score a goal, like the Flames, so I hope that I get on a good team for EASHL in 13.

I'm very, VERY, excited for HUT. It seems like they've made the packs include much better players, I've always either had Stamkos or Malkin in my pack besides once. and that's a starter pack. Since I pre-ordered from EB, I'm getting a gold pack once every week for 16 weeks, and that's awesome. Plus, I'm getting the stanley cup edition, so my team will start with a jumbo gold and Gretzky, so I'm good to go.

GM Connected is obviously what I'm most excited for, it's like Fantasy hockey but so much better.

NHL Moments Live is going to be awesome. Especially because they're gonna add more as the game goes on, can't wait to have actual objectives in an NHL game.

Be a Pro sounds pretty cool to me, but I feel like it'll be my least played gametype.



Overall, my basic analysis is:

Pros:
  • The presentation is much better, and it feels like it matches up with games like Fifa and Madden in terms of graphics.
  • The new skating engine and new lighting engine makes the game feel ultra realistic
  • I really love the dynamic skate spray, and how the ice only wears on the parts that are used, for example I usually skate down the wings to start a play so the middle is all shiny most of the time.


Cons:
  • Overalls are totally nullified, I mean Iggy has an 87 on HUT and Stamkos has an 89, that's just insane.
  • ... Thats it for me.
