and they were both Swedish prodigies who have followed pretty much identical paths up to their draft.
decent showing as a 16 yo, dazzle with their skills, then as a 17 yo, the questions start emerging, they both have sub-par international tournaments, they both miss the WJC due to injury, and they stop being a regular in the SHL.
Kylington finished it off with a disappointing u18s, we'll see what Liljegren does.

The March edition of Craig Button's list is out.
He's super high on Poehling. Going through Button's prediction history this could mean that the Flames are probably at least decently interested in him as well. Projects pretty similarly to Jankowski as well.

Wow, a guy with 13 points in 35 games in college is the No. 9 ranked prospect for the draft.
I'm surprised more first round picks weren't traded at the deadline.

While the numbers dont jump out at you, there are very, very few 17 yr olds playing at the NCAA level.

For those still keeping an eye on this sort of thing with the playoff buzz going, we've released our Spring ranking for the 2017 NHL Draft. Plenty of shuffling going on. Check it out here:

Tickets go on sale Friday at noon eastern. I am heading to Chicago for it, well, mainly to party in Chicago but will go to the draft.

Looks like we'll draft around 20th (hoping for 31st obviously). Anyone good in that area or a lot of "meh" prospects in this weak 2017 draft?

First time I've even really looked at prospects, which is nice because it means it's just an afterthought who we will draft at this point because it's a playoff run and not a run to the bottom of the standings.
I kind of hope we get a D in the first round this year, assuming BT keeps the pick. Haven't picked a D in round 1 since 2009.
Looking at FC's ranking there, and keeping in mind that I've never seen these guys play, Callan Foote looks pretty good. Big body, right shot, mobile, edge in his game and NHL pedigree.

I'd love to draft nick Suzuki if he's available with out pick. Not the biggest guy, but tenacious and somewhat of a Crosby build. High IQ, Right Shot, C/RW, High IQ, good all around game. With out lack of RS prospects with real skill he would fill a need and had top line potential although probably more realistic to project a middle 6 frolik type.

For players I actually see play from time to time, Mason Shaw from the Medicine Hat Tigers is a nice gritty and skilled little player. Of course he's not likely to slip to the 4th round I don't think, so unless BT trades down to snag some extra picks...
I like Stuart Skinner as a goalie, but you can bet we aren't drafting a goalie this year, especially with just 5 picks so far for his draft.
Also from Lethbridge, Jordy Bellerive. Another smaller guy but a non stop motor and a total pain to play against. He might be available in the later rounds.

Seen a lot of Cake Makar in the last week. I'm not convinced he goes as high as guys like Button predict but has a real high upside

I doubt he makes it past the lottery, his upside is too enticing

If Jay Feaster were still the GM he would be all over this guy.
