Dafuq! OK, real question time. How many of these are there, and how much is it estimated to cost taxpayers for UCP ####ery on this file? How is no one in jail?

So far the GoA has shelled out (only what we know) $237.8 million (142.8M to Atrum and 95M to Evolve) to cover its mismanagement of the coal file.
Meanwhile coal revenues for 2004/5 brought in a mere 0.4% of total resource revenues for AB or $15.5M.

There will be more payouts, I dont think they are even fighting in court over these, just forking over our money.

I wonder if there's any precedent here for renewables companies to seek damage after Smith shut down green energy in alberta.

Is there any other industry who have people with "I love X industry" stickers? Not supporting the people (like teachers or cops or troops). But the industry. Imagine car window stickers saying "I love the accounting industry" or "I love appliance dealerships".

Just here imagining "I <3 Coal Mining" stickers in Sparwood BC from people whose parents are dying of lung cancer from the impacts of conditions arising from working in coal mines.

The AB NDP need to recognize that political game and neutralize it. But really, I just want Nenshi to be louder and more prevalent. When we hear from Carney, you know you're gonna hear from Poilievre. If we hear from Smith, Nenshi has got to make sure the AB NDP's point of view is represented loudly.

I'm convinced, at this point, that the Reform party, the Wildrose, and all their big C descendants are just a largescale CIA initiative to prevent Canadians from controlling our own resources. IT would hardly be unprecedented given just about every other country in the world that CIA has meddled with. I'm not even sure the "Alberta" side of the whole NEP situation in the 1980s was the best outcome, but it was the outcome that best favoured American corporate interests. Short term outcomes were probably manipulated to brainwash the populace. Would you put it past the country that has enabled just about every corrupt theocratic gongshow dictatorship out there, during the cold war at that?

Canada is the most resource rich nation on the planet, and among the most educated... yet since the 1970s, we have declined economically on the world scale as our neighbours' 1%ers have peaked. Is it really a coincidence?

UCP President#Rob Smith#was defeated#in Mountain View County Division 6, finishing in third place with 102 votes. Incumbent councillor#Peggy Johnson#was re-elected with 188 votes.

NDP President#Bill Tonita#was re-elected#in Strathcona County’s Ward 4, which he has represented since 2017. Tonita earned 67.3 per cent of the vote.

Premier Danielle Smith also tabled her government's first bill of the session, the International Agreements Act.

Nenshi responds
"It doesn't say anything about how they're going to improve the health-care system beyond doubling down on their failed reorganization and their failed model."

Bill 1, often a piece of flagship legislation for a government, is a distraction from pressing issues affecting Albertans, he said. He said it could prompt a constitutional challenge if passed into law.

"This government does not live in the same Alberta as the rest of us," Nenshi said.
