Personally, my favourite part of the last few games has been the inning where Dave Roberts leaves his tired starter in for just one more, then he gets in a jam and gets pulled anyway, leaving the bullpen in a tough spot where the promptly #### the bed and the Jays get multiple runs.

I'm hoping Roberts remembers that happening to and Yamamoto gets an early hook. Or not, and he gets in a jam and we do it again would be fine as well

There was a stat that Ohtani didn’t get a 7th inning out this season. Mind you he had limited starts but still, he came out for the 7th and lasted 3 pitches as 2 men were on base at that point.

Snell pitched more than needed to as well but that was less clear cut for him to be in or not, as even at 100 pitches he was getting strikeouts.

Yes Roberts definitely knows his pen sucks and any extra out he could get from his starter, he was clearly desperate for.

Of course the Dodgers pen is missing Vesia due to a family matter; he would have likely been the guy to come in these last two games in those spots.

They're so likable and you can see how they play for each other. The Jays teams back in 92-93 were fantastic, don't get me wrong, but they were also the highest salary teams those two years.

Yes, 92-93 was great, as they were one of the deepest, most talented teams in baseball.

This is totally different. This is a bunch of guys coming together, and the sum being so much more than the parts.

• Clement, Lukes, Schneider, Straw, IKF, Gimenez - all guys that are journeymen, or just fillers, guys that every team has. But they all contribute, they all come up big in big moments, and most of all, they all have fun and enjoy each others' success every day.
• Barger and Yesavage - both ahh-shucks rookies that are budding superstars
• Springer, Vladdy and Bo - Springer and Vladdy are just kids having fun at the park, and these 3 are as likeable as any group of stars anywhere.
• Gausman, Bassitt and Sherzer - most veteran pitchers act like mercenaries, but these guys have all embraced the team and are 100% involved

I could go on and on, but the point is made - up and down the lineup, this is just a likeable bunch of guys, having fun, and completely buying in to the team.

Ernie Clement. I love guys that do all the little things to win. Anyone that doesn't have insane natural talent but is still a super effective player because of the way he thinks the game is my kind of ball player.

Does this run hide the fact that it's still a poorly constructed team for the 5th highest payroll? Is it a 'lucky' run? Or have the scouts got it right all along?

If they win the World Series, can they just tear up Vladdy's extension

I wouldn't say poorly constructed. It's pretty solid top to bottom, just not a ton of "star power" like you saw with the Mariners and Dodgers (look how that's working out).

I was also a fan of how this team was constructed. Underperformance contributed a lot to the past lack of success.

Starting pitching - good
Defence - very good
Offence - can be good at times (and is good on paper)

Bullpen's been a bit weak the last couple of seasons and the other problem they've had is when the offence is not firing, they just don't have it. Last season and parts of this season showed that. But the offence as built SHOULD be pretty decent given the calibre of the players. The defence and starting pitching gives the team a bit of a baseline which helps keep them in a lot of games, too.

What they needed this year was a ton of bouncebacks from the high-end guys. Vlad, Bo, Springer, Kirk. They all delivered and then some which likely brought this team close to contention. What put us over the top is the surprises, the Clements, Schneiders, Bargers, etc. coming through time and time again in the clutch and that's why we are where we are.

Absolutely. And not only that. They'll make it back in spades going forward. All the extra fans, merch sales, tv ratings, etc. This team is going to be printing money for the foreseeable future. And that bodes well to keeping a competitive team on the field as the ownership group has no issue with spending money. It really is a surreal time to be a Jays fan.
