Barrie has a remaining daily cap hit of $1,031,250 so if Nashville wants to purge him from the team (in their quest for a playoff run) and we want better than Oesterle, this isn't the worst option.

Like why do you have him playing wing on a line with Curtis Lazar.

Playing him on the wing makes sense when it was to get him top 6 ice time with Hischier or Hughes (where he spend most of this time last year).

But keeping him on the wing when he's playing third line with Lazar or McLeod seems a bit weird to me, especially with McLeod not really being a long term C for them anymore.

You'd think Hughes, Hischier, Mercer would be their plans for top 9 centers forever.

It could be a case where management/coaching staff see him more as a winger. I think we are seeing something similar with Zary here. I’m pretty sure he has always been a center until this season.

I think thier management simply sees him as a top 6 option going forward and he will not be able to be that while playing centre for the Devils.

Mercer has 70 point potential and it's pretty much impossible to get there playing 3C minutes.
