We need Nemec's agent to get mad about his scratch and ask for a trade.
Then Fitz to get pissed off and deal Nemec for Markstrom.

I'd be ecstatic with:
To CGY
Mercer
To NJ
Markstrom (25% retained)
I feel like I'm in the minority here. I've seen a lot of proposals suggesting we'd get Mercer++, but IMO that would be pretty unrealistic/lopsided.

Probably trying to make plays that worked great in junior, but are causing unnecessary turnovers. It just sounds like your average young player going through the growing pains of adjusting to the NHL. "Scoring 13 goals in.. 8 mins of ice" - that's a direct compliment and speaks to Holtz's talent.
|
Pretty much all he said.
And then he expanded and said it was a lot of guys, he was just asked specifically about Holtz.
Listening to the Marek interview.....yeesh he sounded like one stressed out dude.
Tough days for him right now.

Mercer has played almost exclusively on the wing this year (less than 100 mins at C according to Moneypuck stats). So I don't think NJ views him as stuck behind Hughes and Hischier

Kuzmenko is 28 and has been playing pro hockey for a decade now. He is what he is at this point. Plenty of development runway left with Holtz.

Like another poster alluded to, I have a feeling something goes down in the evening tonight, all of Connie's deals haven't been in the morning that's for sure.

Are there any rumours swirling about the Flames taking on a bad contract for futures?

Zadorov was early evening on a Thursday I believe
Lindholm was a Wednesday night
Tanev was early evening on a Wednesday
We are creeping towards a Tuesday evening trade

To be fair, there's no mention of a cap dump here. But taking a bad contract may be in the cards here to gain an asset. Barrie has a remaining daily cap hit of $1,031,250 so if Nashville wants to purge him from the team (in their quest for a playoff run) and we want better than Oesterle, this isn't the worst option.

Barrie and Svechkov or Wood for whatever they want to add.

Travis Green didn't have a good reputation when he was fired in Van, did he? Hockey twitter is not impressed with scratching Nemec.

They do have a lot of cap space but it’s still real money savings if they move Barrie. I have been critical of Murray Edwards many times but he will spend to the top of the salary cap. Many owners will not.

Still a second year NHLer though, and the styale and system difference are what's being developed. I suspect KHL hockey is a lot different than NHL as far as being on "the right side of the puck".

That doesn't matter, the question is does Mercer feel he is stuck behind Hughes and Hischier? The guy was a centre his whole junior career, I am sure he feels more comfortable there.
