People saying "don't worry the Panthers are WAY better they will sweep the Oilers".
Have you looked at the first few pages of this thread? So many people said Dallas in 5 or 6 at the most. And I got called an Oilers fan for saying I am legit worried about this series.
Any team can win in the playoffs. And Dallas looks like absolute trash this series.

I still stand by my Dallas in 4, Nucks in 4, and Kings in 6 because ENG.
The oilers could win 20 stanley cups in a row and beat the flames 100 times in a row and the point still stands. Flames will always be the superior team.
I predicted Dallas in 5 because on paper they're legitimately the better team with better depth and goaltending. But much like Vancouver, the Stars have mysteriously pulled a complete no-show for the better part of 2 games now. Teams failing to show up is becoming an alarming trend against the Oilers late in these series, and I don't get it. It's absolutely baffling.
And it's not that the Oilers are suddenly good, because they're not.

It’s happening. I raised my kids to be flames fans (despite living in the Edmonton area). But this is too much. The excitement of a deep playoff run is contagious compared to the heartbreak of cheering for a franchise that has only won two playoff series in their lifetimes. This is probably the season that will convert these three boys forever. Sad. 😔
I'd never judge your parenting, but I think this is where you went wrong.
Blame Flames ownership because they care more about the arena being an extra 10% full than actually winning Championships. Maybe an Oilers Cup win would be a good thing. It might finally make them realize that winning is more important than the bottom line. These are the moments people remember for decades and create life long fans. No one remembers or cares about all the years you finished 22nd best. You think a single Oilers fan cares about how they got here? They're having the time of their lives watching their team be one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals. Imagine the excitement going into Sunday when you have a chance to close it out at home. Hopefully we get that experience this decade if these clowns decide to prioritize winning over a couple sheckles.
I just hope that if Flames ownership decides to go down this path, we don't fumble around for 10 years like Katz, Lowe, MacTavish and co. did up north, and then have the audacity to sign two players whose contracts were annulled, one of those players who really should be in jail rather than ever be allowed to play professional hockey again. Yes, it'll be exciting for Oilers fans to win the Cup after so many years of being the laughingstock of the league, but there's no honour in that strategy. Anyone who has paid attention to the NHL for longer than when the Oilers just started to get good in the last 4 years will know that even if they win, they still will be an unlikeable franchise that deserves to be in the same discussion as the Bruins, Flyers and Rangers.
C'mon, we've got Iggy and Conroy as the new faces of leadership for this organization. We can be easily be one of the more likeable teams in the league to cheer for if this organization gets its act together and does things the right way.

I never really saw the “Dallas’s better on paper and has better depth part”
I’d take Oilers forwards over the stars all day, and the stars D is comically thin. If Tanev couldn’t play they were going to play a rookie in his first NHL game? And regularly playing Suter and Petrovic?
Would definitely give the goaltending to Dallas though.

It’s just so bad for the league. A incompetent franchise flukes out and gets a generational player. Adds a bunch of scumbags and gifted the worst western conference playoff teams ever strolling into a Stanley Cup.
Evander Kane a champion. Absolutely disgusting.

Who cares every fan wants a cup, don’t care if other teams or fans hate my team. I rather be an unlikeable team with a cup than a likeable team who’s done nothing for decades.
The whole time with Dallas it felt like they play their best when their backs are up against the wall. Almost like they don't like taking the easy route. Hopefully I'm right and they win game #6 in peE-town.
