Hey, if any teams believe in a particular guy, in this case both teams intent on Mercer, I have no problem with that. If scouts think he has crazy upside over the next best guy, why would you settle for something that doesn’t have the high upside while dealing your most tradable asset? Doesn’t make sense to force something only to regret it later.

To me the Tampa noise has always been to get Florida or Boston to step up, neither of those teams would want to lose him long term to a division rival.
If they could not use a retention spot on Hanifin or Markstrom, to be able to retain a little bit on Mangiapane, then I think that could really open up the market for him.
I have a weird feeling Buffalo will make an offer with a premium asset for Andersson at the draft, but will be interesting to see if the Flames bite.

Based in what sec said what would it take to get them to bight on Anderson? That package would be huge.

Sounds like there is still a lot of ground to cover before the deadline.

I just noticed, if you have your display settings at 40 posts per page, we're now on page 666 of this thread.
That has to be a sign, right?

I don't know anything about the next two drafts. I just want to get a 2026 1st from some team that has a very unexpected drop and get the 1st pick. Like how Colorado got Ottawa's 4th overall pick a few years back.

Buffalo has the assets if they choose to try to make a run at him.
Their 1st round pick will likely be a top 10 pick.
They have a ton of top forward prospects already (Benson, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Rosen, Quinn, Peterka)
No idea what an exact package would look like, but they would have the pieces and a need at RH Dman

I need a drug to knock me out till Friday! Been checking CalgaryPuck every 30 minutes or so since the Lindholm trade. I’m exhausted and now a little frustrated.

Sec, any chance you've heard how the mood in the room is following Jacob's comments? How did the meeting go over the weekend?

Probably something to lean heavily on the amateur scouts with. NJ pick this year will probably be a middle round pick. But if the Devils fancy themselves a contender with Markstrom in net that pick is likely closer to the bottom of the 2025 first round.

Thanks Sec!
Any detail on what can be considered “strong” offers for Hanifin? Lately, myself and some others on this thread are starting to doubt if we can expect a first round pick for him. If so, can we expect offers to include a first round pick only if it’s a sign-and-trade or would we expect one of it’s just as a rental?

Some of the offers the team does not have 1st round pick this season, I'm working on details but its extremely difficult this close to the deadline.

Man it guts me that Hanafin will very likely not be signed and traded. The least that could have happened was to maximize return value. If we're not getting at least one premium asset that's really, really disappointing.

Teams that miss out on Jake Guentzel are anticipated to circle back on this player.
