Greasers just being whiny. They easily forget the Tikanens and Kenny Linesmen' of the 80s and 90s. Turnaround is fair play. Suck it Coilers. Tkachuk my favorite now.

Stauffer keeps finding a new low. He's been a shill for Lowe (and Laforge) for a couple decades now, but any, and I mean any objectivity as any sort of hockey analyst goes out the window with garbage like that.

What makes me annoyed about those Stauffer comments is that he is insinuating that Tkachuk is some sort of plug that shouldn't be trifling with a player of McDavid's ilk. Like it's sort of a Matt Cooke going up against Sidney Crosby sort of situation.

"The Matthew Tkachuk's of the game" really says a lot. Tkachuk is one of the best young players in the NHL. Give me a break.

Like McDavid is some sort of untouchable god.

3 most dangerous plays last night:

Slewfoot on Tkachuk
McDavid's steer wrestling/DD attempt
Gaudreau getting boarded

Did the Oilers answer for it?

Tkachuk tried to get Draisaitl to drop them, but the bigger German had those mitts glued on last night.

McDavid couldn't get out of that melee fast enough. Backlund wanted to go with him, but again those gloves were glued on tight.

Then Kassian jumps Tkachuk - a classless goon that doesn't even play regularly - and Tkachuk is supposed to miss 5+ minutes to go with him? Sorry, Draisaitl is the guy that should have stepped up.

Oilers are such clowns in the NHL. They cry and cry and cry about the other teams not having any class or of being dirty, but they can't for the life see what they do themselves. Edmonton's entire journalism department seems full of either highly paid Oiler employees or stock full of pre-pubescent boys that haven't figured out how to see anything that doesn't give them instant gratification. Probably both.

edit: Bennett laid out a clean hit - unquestionably clean - and he ended up answering for it against a much bigger opponent. The Oilers team is made up of a bunch of chickens with some old, useless dogs to protect the coop.

That reminds me that the Flames were close to signing Reave. Man that would have been a treat last night. Kinda like when’s Tanner Glass beat the crap out of Kassian last year.

Tkachuk should just issue a challenge to the Oilers “I’ll fight Kassian next game as long as McDavid fights Peluso, that’s fair trade off”.

Flames proved they don’t need a heavy weight last night but I’d still like one that can play. I wonder if they could get Josh Anderson out of Columbus?

In all likelihood this is the last season Draisaitl and co will be able to hide behind Lucic and Kassian. Both are likely to be bought out / traded this offseason.

On the other hand, Tkachuk and Bennett are going nowhere.

I also find the notion that Tkachuk is a coward hilariously ignorant. I don’t think there’s a player in the league who puts himself in harms way more often. He takes more abuse around the crease in one game than most do all season yet never takes so much as a period off. He’s also stepped outside of his weight class a few times. The kid is fearless.

Yes he is, Cecil. Said Lucic was put on the top line because McDiddlesquat and Mr. Drai were being targeted. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. ..... Ha. Ha. Ha.

Lucic is not being bought out or traded, they are stuck with him.

I am not sure if they would trade him, but Miles Wood in New Jersey is a guy I would love to see on the Flames. He can play a decent game and can really throw them when he has to.

They keep comparing Draisatl to Messier... shouldn't the big German be able to take care of himself?

I hope the Knights start playing some hockey soon, they just don't look that great tonight. Don't let the Oilers win tonight please.

Is there an OOT for today?

And still trotting out Mcllelan's line about the Flames powerplays giving the Flames the advantage in the third. Good grief.

It significantly benefits the Oilers to buy him out this offseason. It’s an expensive buyout but the notion his contract is ‘buy out proof’ is ill informed. It’s more likely than not imo.

These are the Oilers. The only thing dumber than signing him would be paying him for the next decade not to play for the franchise at 85% of his cap hit.

No it is buyout proof.

It’s just not idiot proof.

Being “buyout proof” just means it is structured so that buying him out saves next to nothing.

Doing this earlier only allows them to pay for it longer.
