Imagine that when your team requires some toughness, to make a statement, that you'd call on a guy nicknamed The Tenderness to take care of things.

That sounds like a team of kittens from the toilet paper commercial.

Challenging RNH to run over anything is like challenging a leaf to break a window.

At this point you have to figure that MacTavish is losing it and thinks Ryan is Ryan Reeves.

Here's the full context for that bit of awesomeness.

Quote:
“I’ve been thinking for a couple of days,” started Zadorov about his fine and the suspension of teammate Carson Soucy. “Unfortunately, that’s the world we’re living in. Sometimes social media and the public views can create some hard decisions for specific people and they might make questionable decisions at the end of the day. That’s how I look at it.”

“I had no intention to hurt anybody. I saw my teammate get slashed, I had to step in. I’ve been doing it for 11 years,” continued Zadorov. “It’s just an unlucky play, I got cut there too. Whatever, move on, Game 4 today, let it be.”

The two Canucks involved in the scrum both received supplemental discipline, but none of the Oilers stars, Zach Hyman or Connor McDavid, were fined or suspended.

“At the end of the day, they have to protect their investment, so that’s my understanding in this situation,” continued the Canucks defenceman, throwing a shot at some potential favouritism for McDavid, the face of the league.

Zadorov had stitches around his eye as a result of a cross-check from Hyman in the scrum. When asked why the league doesn’t protect him as he suggested they did McDavid, he was quick to respond.

“I guess I don’t make that much money for the league, I don’t know,” he said before changing his tone. “I mean it’s a hockey play, there’s a lot of sticks, it’s hard to see.”

It’s all immaterial. The league has straight up shown its cards.

Personally, I don't know Dallas' cap situation but I'm betting they'd love to keep him.

Looks like Dallas currently has 16 million in projected cap space next year. UFAs are Pavelski, Duchene, Smith, Hakaanpaa, Tanev, Pouliot, and Wedgwood.

RFAs are Dellandrea, Steel, Lundqvist, Harley, and the other Matt Murray. I assume they want to keep Pavelski, and Harley probably going to get paid, too.

Wyatt Johnson has 1 more year and then he's going to get paid, too - and Oettinger will be up at the same time. But so will Benn. If they want to fit in Tanev they probably could, but they probably want to be leery of too much term.

Hyman intentionally crosschecks Zadorov in the face. Zadorov needs stitches around his eye to fix it. No media coverage, no NHL discipline.

Sousy crosschecks McDavid, but unintentionally catches him in the face. McDavid gets right back up and skates off with his teammates without a single scratch on him. Media goes crazy, Sousy gets a game.

The NHL, ladies and gentlemen.

And some how Oiler fans and media still actually believe that the officials are biased against them. Everything has been handed to that franchise on a silver platter and it has really clouded their idea of fair treatment.

On top of that, Hyman's blow is the only one that caused any injury. Zadorov had cuts on his face that required stitches to close. No other injuries, but Soucy is getting the suspension.

Cmon now!! The can't suspend one of the leagues little darlings. Actually Edmonton's NHL team should be renamed more appropriately. Ladies and gentlemen the Edmonton Little Darlings.

Zadorov is shining a light on the major problem with NHL officiating and discipline, you see things like that happen every game where one cross check is 2 mins and one is nothing. It is completely inconsistent and has been for a long as I can remember.

Here though it is a bit worse because it is consistently inconsistent in a way that seems to be favoring the league's poster boy, the missed 4 minute high stick, the cross check to the face by the guy defending him, ticky tacky calls going the other way and slewfoots and crosschecks by Kane and Nurse being let go.

I'm glad this series is exposing it though.

Get this out in the open and talk about it. We've got double standards for players that the league has particular interest in and player safety doesn't apply to all players the same.

You literally have a worse intentional crosscheck to the face moments after the incidental one. Not much else you can chalk it up to.

The blatant double standard just proves yet again how the NHL has always been in the tank for the Oilers. No self-respecting hockey fan could ever support such a pathetic franchise.

I'm glad they acted so quickly with the suspension. Now, hopefully all the talk about the two hander and crosscheck to the face is loud enough. these things have a way of being corrected.

Interesting choice of words when you consider Mac-T spent a year in jail for vehicular homicide.

Lots of people saying the Oilers need to be more physical. Questions from the media to all the players and knob as well.

I think we see Edmonton play super physical today. I just wonder if the Canucks are getting the oilers off their game, or, if the refs call it fair, does Edmonton take some dumb penalties and get burned on the powerplay?

Should be interesting to see how it all plays out tonight.

Meh. The double-standard is absolute BS, but this isn't just a hockey thing. Didn't the Raptors coach complain about the same thing? It's nothing new, and it's only more blatant now because now you can see everything everywhere in multiple angles. The NHL absolultey needs to get better at protecting their reputation, as it was, but no one at all was surprised that Soucy faced discipline, and Zadorov is right. He's not McDavid. It's not fair at all, but it's the way it's been and it's only going to change if people or companies make their displeasure known with their wallets.

Goalies get comfortable by making saves and feeling the puck. Peppering them from everywhere only feeds this. And IMO, this is part of why it seemed like we faced allstar goaltending every night, under Sutter.
You’re both way off. First shot puck to the groin is the right answer.

Like this but with a puck.
