I've always said that we should check to see if Farkas has a bellybutton... to make sure he wasn't grown in a petri-dish in the basement of the underground lair of the Manning Centre.
I mean c'mon... was Preston Manning ever going to endorse anyone other then Farkas. Farkas used to work for him fer cryin' out loud.

I really look forward to the day Preston Manning stops meddling in politics. Guy manged to ruin traditional Progressive Conservatism in Canada, and now wants to mess around with our municipal elections. #### right off, old man. I've had enoguh of you.

Pretty sure I saw a sign for Shaoli Wang that said something along the lines of "Your Cheapest Mayor" on Nose Hill Drive this morning. That's what I want, the absolute cheapest option. I guess nothing else should matter? Interesting strategy.

So does this mean Davison likely bows out? Does that remove some potential vote splitting between Farkas and Davison? Smarter people than I can likely answer this.

lol it's not even that.
All it says is "Shaoli Wang - The cheapest."
Seems basically like a joke candidate. Larry Heather level.

I have no idea what the original post meant to say. I don't see Manning's endorsement affecting Davison in the least and thought he was vote splitting more of Gondek's vote than Farkas. (However, I am not smarter than anyone)
I am in Davison's Ward, and thought he could be a viable candidate. But if Gondek is the challenger to Farkas with the best chance of winning, I will gladly support her instead.

I saw that too along Country Hills. He’s a little bizarre.
Also noticed that some Ward 2 and Ward 3 areas had a mix of signs from each other’s councillor candidates, like they’re confused about their own boundaries.

I assumed it's because the wards typically bleed into one another for commuters. I mean, I live in Ward 3 too but have noticed the proliferation of both ward 2 and ward 3 signs in both.
Have you seen the Ward 2 Catholic Board Trustee guy advertising "A Safe Space for Catholics"? Woof.

One of Shaoli Wang's policy planks is that the police budget will be tied to crime states, reversely. I see this come up a lot now.
To be honest, that sounds horrible. Does speeding tickets count as crime? would we see a huge crackdown on vehicle infractions so as to raise the budget?

I'm continually surprised that Preston Manning isn't dead. He sounds like some bygone old fuddy duddy of Alberta Conservative politics who should have been rolling in his grave already. I legit thought he was a premier in the forties or something.

CBC has done some polling of Calgarians and has split off some information per respondents' wards:
here is ward 8, but they are all on there:

You might be mixing him up with his father, Ernest Manning, who was a premier in the 40s.

No it doesn't, but it's got some of the issues that the ward's consider important.
But i agree with your desire for a poll.
Ward 8 has a lot of candidates with none appearing to stick out:
Conrelia Wiebe and Natalie Winkler have both done interviews with Danielle Smith and Common Sense Calgary so, just superficially on that, i will probably rule them out.
I see signs from Bob Bobrovitz, Paul Bergmann and courtney walcott around.
Everyones website speak in general platitudes - especially hard for a ward as diverse as 8.
I may have to tune in on October 5 for the town hall

Nor I, I mean did anyone think that Davidson's campaign hinged on a few kind words from Manning? I always assumed that he backed Farkas and I would figure that Davidson would think likewise... Davidson strikes me more as the guy that wants endorsements from the Petroleum Club and Chamber of Commerce more then some populist elder statesmen.
Not that it really matters, Davidson is toast anyways. His campaign seems to have no momentum and the TPA controversy popping up again re-enforces all his negatives. There isn't going to be a rapid ascent from 3rd to 1st ala Nenshi... it's Gondek or Farkas.

Maybe take a few minutes to skim through those interviews before writing them off, unless their platforms actually reflect those groups. I had to point out that Naomi Withers did an interview with CSC earlier in the thread where she specifically rebuffed each of their primary goals when asked. The content of the interviews should be what matter, not who the interviewer is
