Well that sucks. I probably won't bother with TV (except hockey) until November when the new Stargate series is out.

Wow so much BS in one short paragraph. Of course it was Terminator or Dollhouse, who are they kidding? I liked Dollhouse but I think Terminator had more potential to develop an interesting story and MUCH better actors (Dekker notwithstanding).

Consistent scheduling? What a joke.
This reminds me of when Fox canceled Dark Angel to bring on Firefly.

Edit: Actually, maybe it was they didn't renew it to bring on Firefly instead.

People like to blame networks for canceling shows but they gave it 2 seasons and no one was watching.

Don't blame the networks - blame people for having bad taste.

No more Sarah Connor made me do it grass roots campaign.

I think the other really interesting things was Joss Whedon's completion of his 13th episode that had minimal FX shots. It was him showing the execs that Dollhouse could be done with minimal extras, so that would definitely affect budgetary decisions. (Also the fact that the DVD section of Fox is fronting more money for Dollhouse as well is interesting)

If anything, TSCC would almost be better suited to a miniseries due to the high cost of effects and green screen time.

To be honest, I don't blame them for not watching, i found quite a large number of episodes this season to be downright bad, yeah, it ended on a high note but there were so many bad episodes this season i damn near gave up on the show. As evidenced by my participation in this thread earlier.

yep, same here. i watched the first season and thought it was great, then the 2nd started so badly (especially with that teen love story thing they had going on, though the girl did have a nice rack) i just gave up. thought about giving it another chance since it seemed to have picked itself up later on, but then the cancellation rumors started so i figured why bother

the show's creators shot themselves in the foot by starting the 2nd season off so poorly, and bringing in such a terrible actor in the lead singer from Garbage

Personally I really liked the show.... However the network moved the show to Friday which is a terrible night for any show...... Thus the reason the PVR viewership was high.

It was a strange show because some of the episodes had a completely different tone and feel than others - and wouldn't advance the may storyline at all. I quite liked it though - it was a show that demanded you to really pay attention. But I get that it wasn't for everyone and ultimately not "commercial" enough to be viable particularly considering it was pricey.

You also have to give any show that turns Brian Austin Green into a bad-ass mad props.

One of the best moments in the show, season 1's ending.

Absolutely, but the network needs to take blame for at least the Friday timeslot. What was the rationale there? That sci-fi geeks don't go out on Friday night so you can broadcast a sci-fi show for them no problem?

As for the weak episodes, again, fully agreed, couple of them were really iffy. But honestly how many shows manage to churn out one solid episode after another? Even the best show of the decade, Lost, has had several questionable ones.

Meh, the cancellation was pretty much what we all expected anyway, no sense to get worked up over it I guess. It's just a damn shame nonetheless...

I've decided to move to hollywood and become a big time T.V. producer.

I can make shows that last. My secret. No scripts, no plots, no actors.

Just a vacant lot with foreboding music for 30 minutes a week. At the end of every episode there will be a to be continued sign. Then the previews for the next week will be the same vacant lot and a young girl whispers off camera "Oh my god". Of course the scene doesn't change for the entire first year until the last minutes of the last episode when the camera zooms in on two gophers f###ing away to Toto's rains in Africa.

I can make this show for 7 bucks an episode and it will last forever because people are stupid.

I'll call it "Look at the CLOVER in that FIELD" with the words look, at, the, in, that in black text on a black background.

I don't really understand why Friday is considered such a wasteland. Back 10 years ago or so both Friday and Saturday nights had good programs on. Networks have completely abandoned Saturday evenings, and now we want them to bail on Friday nights as well?

Or to look at another way - where else were they going to put it?

They should have made it into a police investigation show, apparently that is the only thing on tv that people watch these days.

From the blog of the producer of SCC:

Quote:
I had this little scary robot show and for whatever reason couldn't convince enough people that it was a) scary enough b) robot enough or c) in English. Add that dim sum combo of factors to a red bean paste of non-monetizable early adopters dvring the show like motherers and now I'm unemployed.

Everyone says having your show cancelled is like a death but I've been dead before and at least when you're dead you don't get thrown off the Warner Bros. lot for haunting your old parking space. They probably mean it's like the death of a friend or a family member but that only hurts when it's YOUR friend or family member and even then it's mitigated by age, lifestyle and whether that person was a Hollywood friend or a real one and whether that family member left you money.

Losing your show is more like a surprise divorce where you get served papers in the morning and your (ex)wife is ing Human Target by three in the afternoon using the same time slot your child was conceived in and also where she did that one thing that one time on your birthday.
