I didn't think he was good last year either, despite his early strong performance in the AHL. Proz in the KHL last year was a lot better in my opinion. But once again, no called me for my opinion, so shrug the shoulders and move on.
Let's pump the brakes a bit on that. It's not like Vladar was a premium backup here. The last two season he was pretty terrible and the drop off is pretty minimal between what we'll end up getting from Cooley and what he was giving the Flames.

How CP posters view you when you disclose you're over 6 ft tall.

If you think Vladar was bad.. what about Cooley's numbers this calendar year?

24 AHL games - .871 SV% (Five wins..)
3 preseason games - .846 SV%

The guy has no business sniffing NHL action. It's actually ridiculous that he's currently slotted as our #2 (yes I know that could change)

I really hope we are claiming or signing a backup goalie, because... it's not looking pretty.

To be honest, number are really miss leading, basically I would not look at it.

Last game, was 100% on the forwards and defense (i.e. listen to the coaches assessment from the game)

Goalie(s) had very little chance,

Need to wait, and see how he is progressing once the season starts

How do you quantify grossly tall? Like 6' 3"?

They didnt play well but be honest the goalies were terrible. Coach knew the firestorm was coming and protected his guys. Every stats site I know of has the Flames outchancing the Canucks.

Vladar had a bad first half and was good down the stretch. Ended with an .898

He was okay overall

I think eventually someone like Copley will end up in Calgary

They can’t have Wolf burnt out

I'm old enough to remember when people figured Cooley was so good that Vladar was expendable and should have been traded. About December IIRC.

listen to the post game

Flames coach said, the goalies had no chance as the team in front of them was terrible.....

I don't think it would have matter, which goalie was in the net, score would have been high

In the new 32 podcast they speculated that Copley was claimed by T-bay only until Vasilevsky is ready and then he will go back on waivers.
