Pretty close imo.
Huberdeau is going to end up something like 70 points off the pace of last year. That’s an entire 1st line scorer missing, and a very good one at that.

I'm in a better mood today than yesterday. Once you give up on the slim chance they had to make the playoffs you can find piece. I just hope they win on the 4th when I'm watching my first game at the dome since 2018

I thought they allowed Philly top play a good road game aside from the first 5 minutes.

So they basically will need to win 17 games out of the next 25 or get 15 wins and some more loser points to make the playoffs. At least they'd be going in hot I guess

There are only two things the owner of this franchise wants:
- to grift the Calgary taxpayer into building him a new building
- to get two home playoffs dates no matter what
Every decision and action they take is related to one of those two goals and nothing more.

This team is not going into the playoff. Even they do they will be swept in 4. As a fan this is very frustrating, but this is a reality we have to accept. Move on and do not make any trades giving up prospects. Shoot the underperformers to the moon. The name list is very easy to pick, including the people managing the bench/roster.

Meh, did myself a favor and waited until the game was done before watching it. Took about 3 mins to skip through it. That's pretty much how the rest of the season will go for me, as I have lost hope of the team going on a run.
Even the classic 6-7 game winning stream during the winter months after new years hasn't happened yet, and likely never will.

It's too regular an occurrence
4-5 goals against on 25 or less shots
While the other goalie has no issues saving over 90%
A massive list of 2nd-4th stringers managed to. When I saw that tweet, I realized we've been getting the backup treatment much of the year and losing
It's not a very good team, even if the goalie factors largely into that

I had to double check those numbers, didn't think he was that far off, WOW.
A PPG till the end of the year barely gets him to half of last years totals

Opposition goalies always leave Calgary with a sore belly button, we're pretty good at hitting the crest on the jersey.

Again, there are several occurrences where a save would have been huge, but isn't necessarily a game changer in my view given how the team was playing defensively. The only thing saving this season would be a goalie that walks in and quite literally stands on his head for the next 3 months ala Kipper in 03/04.
I think too many fans are still stuck on the better goaltending (it will take league leading goaltending) would have this team contending for the division train, when in reality, something is just horribly off with this group. When a team finds ways to lose so many close games, it is a tell tale sign that it's no one player or position causing the problem....it's just a really poor team.
A timely goal, just as much as a timely save would turn so many of these games around. But neither is ever there in 2022/2023. I know I'm glad I'm not in charge of righting this ship, because it is looking like a complete mess to try and sort out and correct for next season.

They are 2 points out of a playoff spot (granted Minny has a game in hand). They just need to play slightly better than they are now...which is kind of the most frustrating part of all of this. If the Flames don't drop these one goal games to inferior teams or actually manage to win in overtime, they would be firmly in a playoff spot.

Yeah, it’s alarming. When you look at all the players current offensive pace, Huberdeau is an extreme outlier. Everyone else is having anything from an average to good (even great) season offensively, but he’s been a black hole.

You’re kind of saying two different things here, though. “No one player or position is causing the problem/something is horribly off with this group” vs. “A timely goal just as much as a timely save would turn so many of these games around.” The latter seems more accurate to me, because I think it’s hard to deny that the vast majority of our issues stem from the issues Huberdeau and Markstrom are going through.
Replacing Huberdeau with someone that produces like a 1st line scorer or replacing Markstrom with someone that plays like a league-average starter would be monumentally different for this team. It’s not far off. A lot of guys are playing well. We’re a few points out. We’re losing 1 goal games on the back of blowing easy scoring opportunities and letting in soft ones. There isn’t something horribly off with the group, it’s two players.

So here we are looking towards next year again. We have a choice; be patient and hope or move the two players who haven't been anywhere where we thought they'd be. My vote is to do everything we can to move Huberdeau and Markstrom. I'd much rather watch the guys playing with the Wranglers than hoping those two guys get it together.

I never imagined we would see Toffoli leading the team in goals and points this year. Good for him in having such a big season for the team.
