Vancouver has had bad draft history since their inception, losing out to Buffalo on a wheel spin.

Would be more interesting than talking and commercials for 48 minutes and then flipping over some cards.

Way too complex for the average Grade 3 american viewer to understand...
(But the whole thing takes me back to studies of Probabilities in Grade 13 in Ontario...yes, way back in the sixties!!)

Yup, every time they see Dale Tallon on that draft lottery stage, they have to think how different things could have been if they would have landed Gilbert Perreault.

They had a legit shot at #1 last night apparently.
Quote:
So what’s it like to be locked in the secure room, knowing you’ve won and can’t say anything?
“They take your phone and put it in an envelope like it’s toxic or something, and then they put it in a drawer,” said Devils President Hugh Weber, who represented the organization. “They hand you a sheet with a thousand number combinations on it that you can’t keep track of. So it’s not like bingo.”
The numbers were 12-4-2-10, a combination that lined up with New Jersey. After the first three were drawn, the odds favoured the Devils, who had four of the 11 possibilities for the final ball. Philadelphia had three. The others belonged to Colorado, Los Angeles, the Rangers and Vancouver.
“At that point, it’s kind of like you know what everyone’s getting for Christmas but you can’t tell them,” Weber continued. “You’re stuck in this room and super excited. But you don’t want to be too excited because you’ve got your peers around you and they’re not as happy.”
How long are you in there, knowing you’ve won?
“It took an hour and a half — felt like six days. Candidly, I wanted to take a shower. Before they even started on air, we were done.”

I guess he was seated next to Edmonton’s representative.

Getting Taylor Hall would be astounding and I think there's a legitimate shot of it happening

Yeah they would have won all those Stanley Cups that Perreault led the Sabres to. Oh wait.
Just more "woe is me i'm the biggest victim" mentality of Canucks fans.
They already won the lottery two years ago when they lucked out on Pettersen. They lucked out again last year when the Coyotes inexplicably passed on Quinn Hughes. Besides, isn't Quinn Hughes going to be the next Bobby Orr and better than Rasmus Dahlin? Guess they "won" again last year.
How many lotteries have the Flames won?
And if there really is a curse on the Canucks, it's well deserved for all the times they burned their City to the ground after losing in the finals.
Vancouver is no good.

I mean, maybe when they got the best player of the 2011 draft in the fourth round. Or is that just great drafting, and everyone else picking good players that fell a bit "lucking out"?

So are they going to change the name of it to the Draft Hallery?

I'm not Canucks fan. But Perrault was 10 times the player Tallon was, that's my only comment.

The point is, if they won that year maybe they take Patrick or Hischier and miss out on Pettersen. Sure they claim they always had him number 1, after the fact, but what would have really happened had they won?
I was actually hoping the Canucks would have won that year because the top guy weren’t great. At least it would have shut them up about the “bad luck” and not given them a top player. But they lost and still ended up with a franchise player that year, so im not sure why they keep complaining.

The same thing happened when Patrick Kane was drafted. The Oil beat us on the last game of the year, and moved up to 6th last, Chicago dropped to 5th and won the lottery...and drafted Kane.

Kucherov was also selected in that draft.
Both are debatable #1 selections.
