Off the top of my head Jagr, Versteeg, Brouwer, Frolik for sure.

Mangiapane was the shake up. Maybe another call up... but that is all I'm expecting.

Brouwer - retaining and or taking other heavy contract back an option
Trade for a new start:
Lazar for Duclair
Blockbuster package:
Backlund & one of Brodie/Hamilton - for a high end young top line RW ++
Those are the options for change that I can see makes some kind of sense but we will see.

Brodie/Hamilton would be enough to secure a top RW. Top D trumps top Winger in most situations.

This team was built from the defense out and now the defense has been reigned in offensively it's putting a lot more pressure on the forwards to score. You would have to ask the GM why he's sunk so much assets into the defense group.
|
Or ask the coach why he is using a system that is limiting the team’s top assets.

soooo the "shake up" was Mangiapane and trading Lack for an AHL-bound player?
I'm not sure it warrants the title "shake-up" even though that is exactly what this team needs. But they'll win tonight and everyone will pretend it's okay again for a couple days.

Management mite but it looks like the fans are ready for change in coaching regardless if we can get a couple wins.

One would hope not, the Mangiapane move was basically forced and I think we'd all prefer to continue having Frolik healthy and playing and the Lack trade was just good management.
Hopefully they're just happy coincidences and the real shake-up is still on the cards.

To be fair, the "shake up" is nothing more than some speculation from John Shannon. Who knows where he got his info from or if he even did get it from someone near the team.
I think people saw that headline and assumed there would be a coaching change which has always been extremely unlikely at this point.

Replacing someone on IR with a call up is not a shake up. Either Shannon is wrong or there is still something coming.
To say a coaching change is unlikely is incorrect imo, as it makes more sense than a big player deal if a shake up is truely on the way.
Treliving always says how hard it is to do a player trade these days. Firing the coach is easy.

But I want it to happen NOW! Right NOW!
I don't care about the bureaucratic and personal processes of moving players and/or coaches. I heard yesterday there was to be a shake up and damn it, I want a shake up!

Maybe...maybe not. Take Dion for example - would I want him on our team? In a vacuum, no. But what if salary was going back the other way?
What if Brouwer was going back. Would you do Brouwer+Kulak for Dion (with some salary retained)? What about Brouwer+Stone for Dion + Pick. It frees up a roster spot + upgrades our defensive core + helps on PP + maybe gives the team some swagger + frees up cap space.
Burke on Dion: “Off the ice he’s done tremendous charity work and more than any other individual (Phaneuf) has gone out of his way to change the (atmosphere) in the dressing room with our players."

So lets say 11 minutes.
It still doesn't change anything. No team is carried by their fourth line. If the Flames want a shake up, they need to change their coach, or more than bit players on the team.

Flames Shake-Up:
- Current coaching staff all fired
- Jaromir Jagr named interim Head/Player-Coach.
- Gelinas and Iginla brought in as Assistant Coaches
- Darryl Sutter brought in as a Coaching Consultant
Sorted.
Get 'er done Brad.

Really?
What indications from Treliving have you seen that he would be in any way interested in turfing the guy he hired, less than 2 years into his tenure?

Good lord no. Dion makes $7M a year and I don’t see Ottawa trading him with enough salary retained to even be remotely interesting from a Flames standpoint.
Adding more money on the blueline is the last thing the Flames need to do.
Something around Stone and Hoffman makes sense to me. I read the Sens were interestednin Stone before he re-signed in Calgary this offseason.

Frolik, Brouwer and Versteeg have all scored 20 before. Ferland has 15 already this season, so he'll get 20 this year barring injury. Tkachuk has a decent shot at 20 this year as well. It's not the 80s any more, you don't need everyone to score 20 to have a chance. Goal scoring isn't that big an issue, especially if they had coaches you coached to score and could fix the powerplay.

Right...but Senators would be saying the same thing about Brouwer. If anyone takes Brouwer is because they're either getting picks, propects or are giving back salary in return.
Dion is still a top 4 defenseman, although polarizing and overpaid. Brouwer and Stajan are dead-weight
