Everything you said is true but it was the same situation for every GM, your not giving Fletcher enough credit for the moves he made. Some pretty awesome drafting there for a while for The Flames.

I wouldn't be surprised in the flames made a trade with Ottawa. They have a lot of players that might make sense to move for both teams:
Dion
Ryan
Hoffman
Karlsson

If you consider that to be a fly by post I would suggest you avoid the political threads on this site.
I disagree with a lot of things the_only_turek_fan posts on here but I wouldn’t doubt for a minute that our 2019 first rounder is in play given treliving’s history. And I don’t even think it’s a bad thing so long as it is used to make the right deal and there is some plan to recoup the pick down the road.

I think Treliving sees things in cycles. When he came on board he described the position the Flames were to be one of 'acquisition mode' (or something to that effect). He made trades to stockpile picks (Glencross, Hudler to name a couple).
Once the organization felt they had sufficiently stocked the cupboards, they could start to use some of the draft picks, thier currency, to acquire players. Not just UFA's etc, but young players who they have control over and are in thier primes.
I suspect this is how the organization sees their current position in the league. On their way up, but not elite yet. I doubt the 2019 pick is in play. They haven't reached 'all in' status yet.

I didn't discredit Fletcher in any way. He was a great GM. My original post stated that Treliving is a superior GM "IMO". Treliving is seemingly in on everything all the time, he is super active and has built a fantastic team with extremely deep cupboards. In my opinion he is taking more flack than he deserves and I fear to think where this team would be without him...

Malcontents are the real fans? And unrelenting, context free, hyperbolic negativity is just how the internet works?
Not saying you aren't technically correct, but if you are, healthy well adjusted people would do well to stay far away -- which was my point.

Hoffman is really the only player on your list that makes any remote sense
The Ottawa GM said anyone is movable outside of Karlsson and Stone
No way they trade Duchene so quickly would they?

Disagree: if the players are being misused by the coaching staff (which seems to be a prevailing sentiment on CP for instance - and assuming that the management agrees with that sentiment) then the heat is on the coach.
IF at that point the GM changes coaches and the same group fails - then it's more likely to fall on the GM for failing to provide the coach with players who can do what needs to be done in the context of the team. (ie too many over-35 plugs with a coach who wants an up-tempo game; not gonna work).

There's no such thing as real fans, just fans and yes that's how the internet works unfortunately. You simply have to take it all with a grain of salt. The bolded describes me and negativity doesn't bother me at all. I love dealing with issues head on rather than trying to avoiding them. Life isn't supposed to be easy.

As opposed to those that can't handle negative posts on an internet message board? Is that a coward then? 70% of the posters on this forum want a coaching change so things have gone far past the point of just crazy people wanting changes. It's a large majority of the fans and many of them well adjusted people.

Its not about thin skin. It's about fatigue from the nonsense.
Its post after post, thread after thread, day after day and if anyone at anytime tries to paint things in a different light at all (also known as debate/discussion), they are piled on for not being a big ass bundle of hate towards their team.
This is just a game, its an escape from reality for most. To want to talk about the team and where it is failing in spots is one thing. To go to the depths of stupidity that some have in an effort to try and demean everyone from Burke to Treliving to the players to the concession workers at the dome is quite another. Reading some people here they actually believe Glen Gulutzan has an IQ in the single digits. It's non-stop.
I get it. It's frustrating right now to watch this club lose games when in reality they are playing pretty decently in several areas of the game. They aren't getting results, and no question that is the bottom line. But the viotrol and hyperbole add absolutely nothing to discussions and in fact take away greatly from what used to be the single biggest quality of this forum.
I love a good argument, i dont even mind the insults and people getting personal to a point....but the nonsense i am reading on this forum? No thanks.

I get the fatigue part but it's still on you to pick your spots and ignore the noise. I find even crazier people on NFL boards and you just have to filter out the nonsense yourself as the mods can't ban everyone. Quite frankly I would be more worried about the state of this fan base if the majority of fans were okay with this season to date given the moves of the GM in the offseason.

Curious you equate bravery and cowardice with an Internet forum on hockey 'Eric Estrada'.

Question for those that want a coaching change: where are the goals going to come from?
Other than JJ, only Monahan, Gaudreau, Gio, and Backlund have ever scored 20 goals.
You can't win with 3 forwards capable of 20+ goals.

I would welcome more scoring...obviously Ferland is capable of 20 considering he has 15 before the new year

Not sure what you are getting at as off the top of my head you omitted at least 5 players off the roster that have had 20+ seasons in their career. Maybe you have to ask the question of why only 3 forwards are going to score 20 goals or why a once dynamic defense group is not close to putting up the stats of previous seasons. This team was built from the defense out and now the defense has been reigned in offensively it's putting a lot more pressure on the forwards to score. You would have to ask the GM why he's sunk so much assets into the defense group.

It may not be coaching but something has to change, management feels Flames have played some good games but we're not scoring enough goals. I think this is why special team to such a big concern right now because if they're not adding the extra goals we're not scoring enough to win games. The urgency is that the season is slipping away if key issues with the team are not addressed.

Which other players have scored 20 before?
