Blues GM Doug Armstrong says he gave Calgary permission to talk to Brian Elliott's camp earlier today only once framework of deal in place
There you go. Hopefully a 3 year extension around 17 million. Can't hurt to hope.

Army says Elliott's camp did ask for a change if it was possible. Army said he'd do what was best for club & felt 35th pick was good return
Dear Jarmo, hear our prayers: please don't do anything rash or dumb.

Now Jarmo, do the right thing. Pick Jesse.

Jersey say Puljujarvi

i think they’ll draft Pulj, wait to see if the guy they want falls to the team they want to trade it, then a trade happens
“They’ll look up and shout, save us! And I’ll whisper….’no’.”

Why do I have a bad feeling about this?
Quote:
I don’t think I can watch this. I’m just expecting the jackets to f it up.
Quote:
After 15 yrs of suck, I just have no confidence the jackets can do the right thing consistently.

CBJ's 15/16 season died for this

So you have the pick for one of the top prospects many want and you just give him away without trading it, no wonder we suck

Literally the name I wanted to hear the least. Hate that pick.

Vomit... Literally that describes every single one of my thoughts right now.

A Finnish GM just had his Finnish director of amateur scouting go announce that the Jackets were selecting NOT the expected Finnish player
Quote:
You are ####ting me. We didn’t just do that. We didn’t even get value for the pick!
Quote:
i ####ing quit. goddamn blue jackets.
Quote:
the look on Puljujarvi's face when CBJ didn't draft him was pricelsss
Quote:
Legit everyone clearly had a top 3 in this draft. don’t get how were the ones with a difference
Quote:
There are 30 teams laughing at the jackets right now!
Quote:
Honestly, I'm not going to act like I'm some hockey scouting expert. I don't know a ton about these guys, so I'm not going to say if it was a good decision or bad decision.
But I will say that seemingly everyone in the NHL had Puljujarvi as a clear third best player in this draft. I'll also point out that it would be the quintessential Jackets move to pick PLD over the consensus pick in Puljujarvi, only for PLD to flame out and Puljujarvi to be a star.
I know that feel, bro

[quuote]This is where the night gets bad. Calgary gets their goalie according to Dregs.[/quote]

It's ****ing awesome that we just won a Cup, let me get that out there right now to shut all of the "we just won a Cup, stop whining" idiots up.
That being said, we have a pretty bad situation at hand regarding MAF and the expansion draft. The longer we wait, the worse it gets. Something pretty much needs to happen today or tomorrow, because if it gets to July 1st, MAF can essentially **** over the Pens by listing any and all teams he could realistically be traded to.
The Flames were the best choice, by far and away. Nobody knows why it fell through, but with Calgary out of the mix, we're in a pretty deep hole.
Quote:
Yep.
Calgary was the clear-cut landing spot for MAF. They had cap-space, they needed a starting goalie. With them out of the mix, there is nothing left. Dallas needs a goalie badly, but they're totally ****ed with Niemi/Lehtonen.
The fact that Calgary is off the table is very bad, and genuinely increases the odds we either trade Murray or buyout MAF ten-fold.
Quote:
good job JR. Good luck buying him out next year.

Can't see them making this trade without some kind of deal in place.
LOL... sure thing Jim sure thing, hope you dream about Tkachuk tonight.

#Pens GMJR on CGY's acquisition of Brian Elliott taking #Flames out of goaltender convo: "It had nothing to do with anything we were doing."
What's it take to extend him 4x4. Or can you limit to 3 years and 3 mil.
No way. Elliot is now your projected started, right? He isn't signing such a short term for so little. You're likely looking at something similar to Andersen.
Looking at Elliott's career numbers, especially starts, how many starts do we realistically expect him to make next season? His career high is 55, so we're going to need a guy that can step in and play 30+ games in my opinion. Is Ortio that guy, or do we pursue a guy in free agency?

Failing picking up a big name UFA RW, we go after Reimer. I don't trust Ortio for any more than 10 games.

I think Enroth is available. Would be a good pickup.

Now's Elliott's chance to start more than 55. There's no cap, I think we only need someone to start about 15-20. I'd be comfortable with Ortio. Would leave more cash to sign a player like Lucic.
What a fantastic trade. Calgarys now a playoff contender. Unbelievable asset management by Calgary. Most second round picks never make the NHL, so to get a starting goalie?
