Depends if he's actually an asset or just another in the huge list of goalies who dont' make it.

Or Ortio could take accountability for not taking advantage of his opportunities.

Nothing like the Byron situation.

I will be shocked if he does clear. With his contract he can help a team with injury problems right now and if he doesn't work out or when the other goalie returns that team can always waive him again. I can't seem him getting through.

definitely, he's not in the clear here at all. That being said, sample size has been extremely small this season, heck, even ramo needed to be given a chunk of games to find his "groove" (if it can be called that).

And what does Ortio do? If he clears, it means no other teams want him for free.

I'm hearing the #Habs put a claim on Joni Ortio, but there are several teams ahead of them, so it will be interesting to see where he lands.
|
Aren't the Habs right up against the contract limit?

good question. Whatever leland irving did i suppose... Although, Ortio seems like a better prospect and has shown a glimpse of decent play in limited nhl time.

Players are given lots of time to shine. Yea goalie is different, but 2 games in a new season to prove yourself? That's a joke not matter how you look at it. They must have a firm beliefe he will pass through maybe based on the fact that he has only played 2.

I can't disagree. Hopefully he clears and gets a ton of AHL starts. This year is quickly becoming a write-off so NHL starts could happen for him as the season progresses.

I'd rather find out in Calgary then have someone else figure it out while we watch Ramo/Hiller play their usual below average game.

Man if the Flames lose Ortio for free off waivers during a lost season that is not going to look good on Treliving.

No offense, but there's a bunch of teams out there. If the Flames are slotting him behind guys like Ramo/Hiller then he doesn't have much of a future here and should look elsewhere when he gets a chance.

Well you should be preparing yourself to be super pissed in 30 minutes. Otherwise you will be an hour late.

If Ortio is claimed I will lose some respect for BT.
The management of goaltenders has been horrendous - between the 3 headed goalie monster and now this.
Even if hes not the starter of the future it's terrible asset management. Especially considering they have invested years in this kid.
If he clears it wont be so bad but its quite the gamble.
Edit: not to mention its a joke he was only given 2 games when the other goalies were just as bad at the time - that is on Hartley and BT.
