Johnny Hockey looked noticeably thicker on the ice. Ferland was trying to lay the body on him and was unable to knock him down in the few battles they had.

Flames Future has a video up of the fitness testing including a talk with Monahan, sounds like the boys are bonding, mission successful.

Quote:
Monahan: I want to leave a good impression, I want to make the team... it's (Calgary) a great fit.
He got a welcome on the plane as well sounds like.

How elite are we talking here?

I'll be shocked if he doesn't become an elite NHL player.

the flames management just hooked up a laser printer in the conference room they booked that overlooks the rink... perhaps printing out a contract for Monahan?

Why would they do it there? Feaster's office not available this afternoon?

Feaster's office is for Costanza naps under his desk only. No business is done in there.

They played on the same line together a lot near the end of the season. BC was struggling, so the coach shook up the lines and put Arnold and Gaudreau together.

In their last regular season game against Vermont, Gaudreau and Arnold were on the same line. Johnny had 6 points, and Arnold had 4: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/...0130310aaa.pdf

Berra was a huge standout for me in the morning session. His experience and age definitely stood out between the 3 goalies. Great lateral movement for a big guy. Takes a ton of space up in the net and stays square to the shooter. Didn't allow very many pucks to get behind him.

Ferland had a good session too. He is very animated on the ice, lots of talking and communication on drills. Doesn't seem like a quiet guy, which is definitely something this organization needs. Used his size well, decent skater. Has a very good shot release.

Howse stood out as a guy who just didn't belong. The skating drills at the beginning were very telling that he needs some serious work. Didn't look comfortable in them at all, and seemed slow at best. No agility, slow footwork. Most camp invitees looked in better shape. You would think for his age and experience at the pro level he would be ahead of the curve, but that simply wasn't the case. He just doesn't bust his a** the way he should.

Also Horak has switched to #21. He looked like the most experienced player on the ice. No surprise there.

interesting to see the contracts for this years picks; Mack was the only one, so far, to get a rookie max deal ($3.775M incl bonuses); Drouin and Jones were about $500K lower, and Nichushkin was $1.6M lower

presumably, Monahan will fall somewhere in between Drouin and Nichushkin

It is interesting that they put Gaudreau and Arnold in separate groups. Absolutely no relying upon their established chemistry.
Arnold is far from a lock to make the Flames, so I'm sure they want Gaudreau to bond with some of the guys who will be on the roster next year when he's deciding whether to go pro or to return to college.

The flood. I believe the Flames are operating out of temporary office space at McMahon right now.

Monahan is there already... Why make an unnecessary trip? Sven was signed in the Don Hartman arena in his first development camp
