He makes the Flames harder to play against. And I think he still has room to improve. Not into a big scorer or anything, but into a better 4th liner at least.

I maybe biases as he was a member if the fighting Sioux. But Corban put up outstanding numbers as sr. Had a twenty plus point streak and won 60% of his face offs. Would be a great pick up by the flames via fa.

Perhaps FLA can include him in the deal for the 2nd overall pick

No harm in keeping him. I wouldn't mind seeing a 4th line with Bouma and Aliu on it to see what kind of energy and hate they can stir up.

He would be a perfect fit for this team, and would no doubt be given a legitimate opportunity as soon as next season.

I would even venture into looking into acquiring his rights through trade.

Absolutely.

And hey, he's from Alberta! Maybe there is a good chance he signs with us?

So, he's also currently training in Calgary?

Interesting.

Barring trades or a strange draft choice. Flames Center depth if they signed this Knight kid would look like:

1. Stajan
2. Backlund
3. Reinhart
4. Horak
5. Knight
6. Monahan/Lindholm
7. Granlund

Certainly a step in the right direction. Two (Three if Horak can catch a break) legit NHL'ers there followed by some solid youth. I have thoughts that Stajan could be moved along in a package as well.

Yep, I actually think that for once we may have a big step up on other suitors, because of the close to home factor and huge vacancy at C for him to step right in and fill.

I think Horak is more effective on the wing.

Quite frankly the Flames still can't really afford to move Stajan right now unless they sign 2 players that are legit NHL centers.

I think there is a better chance of Weiss being offered a deal or the Flames taking on a bad contract of a centerman. I just don't see Bozak as being much more than Stajan with better faceoff numbers. Where as Weiss is a high end #2 who addresses faceoffs, defensive play, penalty killing and leadership.

This will be Stajan's last year here. Horak is a winger imo.
Would really to see Knight added, wasn't he one who was beating Gadreau in those Hobey Baker votes?

Yes if UND wouldn't have lost to Ale he would/shoud have been considered in the final 3 before announcement day

If Florida aren't interested in dealing #2 overall to us, do you think the rights to Knight could be included in a deal for Tanguay?

To Fla: Tanguay
To CGY: Rights to Knight & a 2nd round pick (#32)

Despite his being surplus to requirements here & having a long contract, his production & the cap hit are ok. We get a shot at a late first/early second round prospect & the chance to sign a potentially NHL-ready prospect.

Any thoughts?

the article (from EDM) states the oilers should have interest in the guy, and that he's training in CGY with Eberle.

Is there anything that leads us to speculate any interest on the part of the flames?

Aliu is horrible. If he's on the Flames, even in a 4th line capacity, the team is really a favorite for the top pick next season. He is a below average skater and doesn't use his body with any regularity. We need size, but we need size that can play the game. Aliu was a nice reclamation project, but it's time to realize he isn't even a short term stop gap player and use that contract in better ways.

Reclamation is a strong word for someone who only played less than 10 NHL game in his entire career.

besdies the fact that he would have a center position initially without any wait and that he's from alberta..... no none at all
