I hope he isn't here come draft time. This team has at least started to go in the right direction but it's not there yet. I think they need to bring someone in (I don't care who, just the best person for the job) who can continue changing this team for the better. People have to accept that this team isnt' going to be good for a couple of years before it gets better. I honestly think there will be more deals at the draft, I just hope Feaster isn't the one making them for the Flames.

Except that there were no other top-pairing defensemen on the market. What was StL going to do? It's not like they could have grabbed Jack Johnson instead... Again I don't know what would have happened. I do have a lot of negotiating experience though, and it often pays to have a bit of extra patience...

Yeah the poor return for Richards is a red flag but all GM's at one time or another land on the losing sides of trades. These trades seem to have the same bad vibe. If one of these first rounders turns out to be a franchise player all will be forgiven but at the present time I'm extremely underwhelmed by the returns for Bouwmeester and Iginla. I'm fine with the 1st round picks but getting four C grade prospect IMO is poor asset management. I am still stunned that he couldn't get a top 10 prospect off of either the Penguins or Blues. Stunned.
I actually believe his best deal was getting a 5th for Comeau.

They could have walked away if the Flames asked for too much. Considering the Wings weren't prepaired to give the Flames a #1 pick for Bouw I think we did okay. That said I agree that it pays to have patience and maybe we could have got more - who knows. Or maybe that pick was what Feaster wanted.

They gave the team bad marks because the Flames got bad returns, didn't move enough guys and did a crap job.
"Being cool to kick them when they are down" has 0 to do with it.
But as we have seen much easier to attack the media/analysts than admit that this team has been and is being mismanaged.

On Monday. Again, I think Bouwmeester is a loser, and I am thrilled we got a 1st, so don't take this as me just "hatin", but like EE I would have expected at least one or two prospects that made the team page in Future Watch.

If Edwards is talking to him about next year then theres a good chance he's staying on. Weisbrod is prob the next GM here anyways. Need to get top scouts though and in a hurry, see if we can steal some intel.

Someone else said Brian Burke / Ruff for President/GM and coach. I'd be in favor of that. Feaster and Hartley might be better off back in Hershey.

I can't think of an instance where a GM had managed for force two teams into a lottery pick and been allowed to continue on. (Tampa & Calgary)
King King has now gone through 3 GM's now, I think he has to bear some responsibility as well so It would not surprise me if both are fired when the season is over.

They didn't get bad returns
for Iggy it was the Pens offer or nothing
Got a 1st out of Jaybo and dropped the contract...these clowns were talking buyout 3 months ago
Should have moved more is debatable

3 months ago was 3 months ago. Jaybo had value and was an easy move. Iginla was an easy move. The returns were so-so at best.
That's a D. Seriously, given the Flames organizational backup (scouts etc), I think pretty much anyone who follows hockey could have done as well as Feaster here. And I'm not exaggerating at all.
I also don't see how "should have moved more" is debatable at all. We have a roster stock full of players that are utterly worthless for us within their contracts and will only go down in value now that Bouwmeester and Iginla are gone, and all he could move was Comeau. Tanguay's value will go down, as will Cammalleris and Stempniaks and Stajans and pretty much everybodys. That is bad. He couldn't find any takers for Sarich or Babchuk, that is bad, especially since Feaster signed both those guys.
Say what you will of Darryl Sutter, but he would always get something for players he wanted to move.
Feaster got the bare minimum done this trade deadline, like a seatwarmer for an actual GM.

Just had to laugh, because I follow Puck Daddy aka Greg Wyshynski on Twitter, and this morning he sent out a tweet that simply said "I <3 Canada", with a link. The link was a snapshot of this same quoted post from you on CP. The randomness factor was awesome.

I don't really mind the returns at the trade deadline. I just do not want/ trust this group making any personnel decisions moving forward. The ROR debacle sealed it for me.
As well the "let's hire former Flames (Conroy, Gelinas) from our glory year (04)" has to stop as well. It reeks of something the Coilers have done for years.
We need to hire management/ coaches with real resumes (not how many game winners that they scored in the 04 run).

Feaster is not trying to blow it up.
This is a retool.
Why trade important parts of your roster that you expect to help you make the playoffs next year?
Does this gong not sound loudly for others? The owner of the team told the general manager the night before the deadline he expects the club to make the playoffs next year and on deadline day Feaster doesn't move anyone but Comeau.
This is feaster clearing capspace to take a run at free agents in the summer time.
If this was a rebuild more players would've been dealt for a different/better return of draft picks vs. 23-26 year old players.

Its tough to argue about the return for Iggy. I think it was just a golden parachute for Iginla. The Flames stink and the ownership group figured they would reward Iggy by trading him to a contender of his choice asking little in return. Iggy probably wouldn't be able to play for a team like Pittsburgh by signing as a FA. So this was the best way to get him on a contender.
