I chalk it up to more then one reason. Chicago being tired is one but the Flames played well and never let off the gas pedal. Usually we'd have seen the flames tie it up and sit on the lead Hrudy mentioned we should have (iirc) done that. Flames played well, Hawks being tired isn't the sole reason for that.

that was frustrating. Very, very frustrating. The degree the flames outplayed the opposition was great, but not very rewarding. It was good to see a fight. Why can't we clinch? Why can we not score? what are the keys to our success? i'm totally lost here.

I'd love to be super optimistic, but the mathematics are getting scary. The clip at which you need to win is starting to approach "top tier team" level (if you went with the 10 points in 7 games concept mentioned before, that's way up. In an 82 game season, that's about 120 points). And I'm not sure the Flames are going to be a top tier team.

I'll cheer the for the Flames, but I think we have to start being wary of how good the Flames need to be statistically to make the playoffs.

How Glencross got third star is beyond me. Third star for missing open nets? For going behind the net on the pp when he should be driving the net for a rebound. He took last game off and while the effort was improved it was nlt worthy of a star. We lack a shutdown line and that is what cost us the game with seconds to go. If you look at my last post I've stated that I've been impressed with their effort all season and tonight is no different but the Hawks did nothing in that 3rd period but hang on which is why the Flames were allowed to take it to them. I simply think if the Hawks were fresh tonight we wouldn't have seen all those offensive opportunities in the game overall.

Remember everyone was saying the same good things about the shootout loss to the Canucks and three games later nothing really has changed as far as winning goes.

Slow starts isn't meant to be an excuse. It's just a description of a career pattern. The player isn't any less responsible for those games.

Not to take anything away from Emery, but usually in these types of games I feel like that the goalie needs to get a lot of help from the opposing team to do it. I think "running into a hot goalie" is a poor excuse for lack of finish in most cases.

Pretty obvious this team won't make the playoffs now but that was a fun game to watch. If they play and lose that way to the no 1 pick, I'll be entertained and encouraged about an orderly rebuild.

Looks like Bouwmeester has been given the green light to play more like he did in the Eastern Conference and pinch when he sees fit. Kind of feel he was a bit muzzled under Brent. His play the last few games has been encouraging.
