They're definitely doing it just to irk the rest of Canada. Wouldn't ever be a logical reason like, say, wanting to have all the first stores closest to their first distribution centre.

Regardless of when they open their doors in western Canada, this is going to be a good thing for the consumer. Expect lower grocery prices from all the big players here . . . well, except Co-op--they seem to be in their own little world.

I wouldn't be so sure....... plus, if the stores in Canada even get groceries; article leads me to believe it'll just be the same offerings as Zellers (dry/dairy/frozen).

I was expecting one of the first to be here in Ottawa. Oh well, the one in Whitby is not far from my parents' place. I'm usually not fond of American big box stores, but I would like to see Target before passing judgement.
Definitely amorak and THE_SCUD, or his long lost brother. All you have to do is read insuting post after insulting condescending post and you know it's him.
I really don't think there is another person on this planet with the same posting style as him.

I'm having trouble finding a link, but I'm almost certain I read a Globe and Mail article last fall which outlined their grocery strategy for some of their Canadian stores. The plan is to sell food more than just boxed goods and non-perishables. A limited supply of produce, and--if I recall correctly--meat.
Not a full blown grocery store as we know it, but competition is always good.
Huh. Looks like amorak planned ahead this time and got an extra username before getting banned again. I wonder if the extra username coincided with any temporary banning while he was the scud.
