I’d really kind of like to go over there with my metal detector. I bet there’s a ton of treasure around the docks and boat launches.

Getting a bit worried - Im located right in the middle of the red zone in Sunnyside. Im higher up in an apartment but mums house down the street is also in the red zone.
Building a contingency plan incase I have to get my mom out of her house tomorrow if things turn for the worse over night.

Are you at work overnight?
I can let you know how it looks, I'll likely be in the area at some point in the next few hours

Hopefully this is just aggressive over-preparedness

They do that most years. I remember doing shrooms in high school, walking into the middle of the reservoir, and tripping out on the weird spongy turf.

Bow flow is still not that high, and Ghost is still at the bottom end of its flood season capacity, hoping that will keep things manageable. No groundwater in my basement as of this morning.

Nose Creek looked pretty swollen this morning.
I think we’re going to start seeing alternating summers of smoke and mosquitoes.

I walked to the office today from Kensington and was pleasantly surprised to see that the pathway underpasses at 10th and 14th hadn't flooded yet.

Temporary berm location from the city briefing right now, it may stay up until another predicted storm system around June 20th:

So if you are used to using this section of Memorial, make peace with alternate routes for a while.

Yeah we closed Memorial around midnight
So far things are looking okay. Elbow is still only a high flow warning, not even a flood watch. Bow is at a flood watch but it needs to rise several metres to be a concern.
Biggest threat in the Calgary area is the Highwood river. Stay safe Dion!

Can they add a "Bigtime" gate to that berm so I can ride my bike through it and enjoy Memorial eastbound on my morning commutes?
Edit: Actually just slop it nicely and put some plywood down so I can ride over it, maybe do a sweet jump or something (and wipe out no doubt).

I heard Memorial was closed between 10th St NW and Edmonton Trail, but I didn't really know why other than "flood concerns". I drove eastbound yesterday afternoon and it was no big deal.
I heard about construction of the temporary berm earlier this morning, and holy #### the water is quite a bit higher. You can see the westbound lanes have quite a lot of standing water on them already. Yikes...
