I think most people are fine with stone because he filled the biggest need we had on this team. The acquisition cost was also extremely light and I think we're in a good position to sign him come summer time

So you are talking Iginla for those players? They won't be in the mix for a Fuchene/Landeskog package

A pick in the 70s is peanuts for a 2nd pairing Dman, even if he only finishes the season here. We needed a guy like him desperately if we are looking to make the playoffs and be competitive.
I think odds are strong that we re-sign him as well.

Johnston in the FAN doesn't see much for the Flames outside of a depth forward or maybe a goalie. Cap issues could be troublesome

Honestly, when is the last time anyone has predicted a trade made by Treliving? Seems like the Flames keep a lot of stuff close to their chest and their isn't a lot of speculation prior to a deal getting done.

So does anyone think that the Mumps scare in Vancouver would affect their attempts to sell off players if thats what they wanted to do?

I don't think anyone sees Stone as a rental. This is a 20+ game try-out for an extension. He fits an organizational need and is the right age. There's a reason why there's a conditional 5th attached to that deal - Stone will likely be here long term, even if he isn't re-signed until after the expansion draft.

I don't see the Flames going in for Duchane the price will be to high. Landeskog might be a bit more affordable but again too big of a deal.
Actually after taking a better look at the Ave's roster, Iginla and Grigorenko are the only two I could see the Flames taking a legitimate shot at ( man that is a bad team). That said, Iggy is probably only worth it for a lower end pick.
So I guess that leaves Grigorenko for Kulak, which isn't horrible, but isn't great either ( just like my original theory).

I don't think so as long as the player is medically cleared. However I don't see much in the way of desirable assets. Hansen should bring back a decent return but from what I understand Benning wants prospects not picks which may make teams hesitant.

I actually think the Flames should get Pulkkinen for the Heat.
Michael Russo @Russostrib
Zac Dalpe has been claimed off waivers by #cbj. Ryan Carter/Teemu Pulkkinen clear waivers; Sources say Wild willing to trade Pulkkinen

Given Hanzal's price, I feel like the market is extremely inflated now and it would definitely need a first and a second plus a prospect. A young player with one more year on his contract at an RFA status after will cost quite a bit.
But given a poor draft class next year, I wouldn't mind parting with our first this year for a guy like Strome.

Duclair would be good
really, any of guys like Duclair, Strome, Armia would be good(cheap) adds who can help with depth and help in the long term potentially. Yakupov as well but lesser so I guess. E Kane also, but more expensive.
If we had to get a rental, Patrick Sharp is probably my pick. Iginla as well if nothing else works out .

Duclair would likely be expensive (that is what has been reported to date).
Also, he would not be an upgrade on Ferland at this time - maybe going forward. But if going forward is the focus, probably better to look at making a deal in the summer.

100%. I hate using the term 'cancer in the locker room' but this is legit a disease in the locker room. I think teams would need some serious medical reporting/blood tests/human disinfecting done before they'd look at a player.
