The Panthers have by far the worst prospect pools of the teams rumoured to be interested. One would think they’d have to add more picks than other teams would.

I don't mind the 26 1st because the Flames need some variety in their surplus of 1sts. Better to have them in different draft classes than betting it all on this one.
Also I think there's a strong chance Florida falls off by then and lands them a pick in the teens.

Thing is...Hanifin should return a 1st + even just as a rental.
If you're not getting that back at least then it means you're probably limiting yourself too much to only markets he will re-sign in an effort to get a bigger return, but actually limiting your trade partners which is reducing your return.
I feel like Vegas or another team would offer a 1st and another piece just for this playoff run.

Am I wrong or does it eliminate the entire point for Florida to want to do a sign-and-trade with Hanifin if they already know from leaks he wants to sign with them? Why not pay for him as a rental to save the acquisition cost and then sign him a week later?

Sawchyn is a pretty good prospect. He would add value to a deal I think.

So why is everyone always creaming their drawers for Lundell, can someone give me a scouting report? Honestly don't know too much about him. Does he project to be a 1C? 2-way 2C? Solid defensive minded 3C?

A fully extended Hanifin would bring in an absolute haul, imo. Multiple picks, multiple prospects, as well as a roster player (or two). Heck, even as a pure rental he likely brings in more than a prospect and a pick.

Oh I was definitely being conservative, if it leans more toward your proposal I’d be positively over the moon with excitement. Here’s to hoping! Always good to see you around these parts my friend!

Mangiapane has played 50 or more minutes with 5 forwards; Huberdeau, Sharangovich, Lindholm, Backlund, Coleman.
Of the 5, 4 are better with Mangiapane than without, and the four are all 5% or greater in xGF% (huge). the only negative is Sharangovich by only 0.5%.
He's better with Backlund and Coleman, but to the same degree they are better with Mangiapane.
Like I said earlier ... other than his silly stick fouls in November he's having a great season.

Too much blind faith/trust in their regular guests.
The problem with frank is he always has something to say, when with trade talks there are stalls on negotiations or quiet days or weeks with nothing to report. But he always comes up with something, which is what leads me to believe he's full of crap more than half of the time.
The guys here like sec have their days with nothing to report. Then they'll chime in with something every so often at an unexpected time. The trickling in of that information seems more realistic to me than Frank getting memos with juicy tidbits from several team in time for his morning spot every single day. IRL it doesn't work that way.
The overconfidence in his delivery is also lame. If he's not in the room where these things are happening he should not be that sure of himself. Even Friedman is a lot better at leaving room for doubt and not reporting things prematurely.

Sounds like Chucky needs to work his magic on the Panther's GM to get him to pony up for Hanifin. Come on Florida. This is your window! Give us Lundell!

He might be the next Backlund. 2/3 Centre.
If we get him, maybe we trade Bread and Lundell can understudy on that line.

I agree. IMO if Florida doesn’t put in Lundell , considering their prospect pool, then they are just fighting with other teams for hanifin as a rental. Have to think flames can do better than a 2026 1st as the main piece coming back

If it's FLA, Lundell is a must. Conman isn't taking their organizational pocket lint just because Zito hit a homerun with them for Tkachuk already.
Chucky should get on that if he wants to jetski with the dolphins with his pal Noah.

Hanifin to Florida for Lundell also sounds like a great target and return to prioritize.
Tanev for a 1st will get done and a team that needs him will regret not paying when they lose in the playoffs due to their defensive holes (see: Toronto).
If Conroy can pull it off and add Mercer and Lundell to this team's centre depth, plus a couple 1sts, and ideally adding Casey to last month's addition of Brzustewicz gives the team a couple lottery ticket offensive Dmen, it would be hard not to consider his 1st year a huge success in terms of asset management.
|
His 1st season is already a huge success (unless he falls on his face at the deadline - which won't happen). If he manages all of the things you've listed, it would go down as one of the greatest seasons a GM has put up in a very long time.

Just depends on if the Flames can land a center in another trade.
Like a forward core moving into the building that has, Zary, Pelletier, Coronato, Pospisil, Holtz, and say a kid like Lundell? That's upside bonanza. Then you sprinkle in vets who feed off youth like Huberdeau and Kadri... that's a novel retool of the fw group.
I want this. So badly.

A couple of you keep saying this. There are two GMs involved in the negotiations, and they both strongly disagree with you.

Don’t love if it’s Florida or bust for Hanifin because I don’t think they give up Lundell. I’d take Holtz and a 1st for Markstrom as well.
