So. Everyone we needed to lose has lost or is losing.

Fun times for this team and its fans. No one saw this coming heading into this season.

Division title would be so huge, anything after that is gravy.

So maybe they don't need to add anybody?

Hard to break up this chemistry. 20-5 in their last 25.

Literally nobody.

I feel a little guilty, honestly. I’m taking immense joy in this run but I was as down and out as it gets as a fan before this season.

After a few years of not winning a playoff game. Then having the rug pulled in the offseason by losing out on potential signings like Ohtani, Sasaki, Soto, etc, etc.

I was pretty checked out. But this team has officially pulled me right back in.

And I am starting to see the murmurs like I did in 2015. Casual fans, friends are starting to ask me about the Jays. People are paying attention again.

This is going to be a lot of fun!

More arms, always more arms, someone with a bit of fire to their pitches.

Would love a power bat but I don’t know where they fit as Springer can’t field every day if you bring a dh in.

Feels like we are getting paid back for the last two seasons of disappointment and surprise underperformance up and down the line up.

36-14 in their last 50.

Insane.

Wrong.. Baseball is an absolute grind full of random injuries, and the playoffs are a different beast. Need relievers at the very least.

Yeah, I think the group is demanding an upgrade to a starter and then 1-2 relievers I agree.

What’s crazy about this run is that every single player that goes up to bat- you feel like there’s going to be a hit. Their confidence as a group is insane right now.

It’s a whole lot easier to rebuild a farm system than it is to win a World Series. The window for their current pitching staff is closing and it would be a shame for this team to get to the playoffs and just not have the juice to get across the finish line.

Most prospects are like new cars - they often depreciate in value significantly once they leave the parking lot (ie get promoted to the next level). Even guys like who look like surefire contributors at the majors can get hit with career derailing injuries or you can find out that they are capped as bottom of the roster major leaguers at best (ie Austin Martin)

Push all in. It would be really hard to see Nimmala and/or Yesavage moved but if we aren’t going to do whatever it takes to win the World Series when we are leading the Majors and the teams that are chasing are going to add, why are we even playing? A World Series championship lives forever.

Dylan Cease will be a free agent this off season and is a Boras client, so for that reason alone he is rumored to potentially be available despite the Padres in the NL wild card hunt.

He'd slot in as our #1 SP IMO

The Jays have clearly been just fine without Varsho, and while it's a good thing he's about to return, maybe they could continue to survive without him and offer up Varsho for Cease plus a prospect or two. Varsho having control gives him more value than even a really good SP like Cease who is certainly testing the market this off season.

I'd love it if they could add Cease and then roll a 6 man rotation to keep all the old guys fresh. They looked to be slipping hard as they approached the all star break, and now after the break they've all looked fairly fresh again.

I'd rather add a guy like Cease to the rotation AND keep Varsho but the Padres likely have no interest in weakening the MLB roster in one area without strengthening it in another.

If the Jays end up moving guys like Yesevage and/or Nimmala they will be getting back MLBers with control. So while it would sting (I love following the Jays prospects and get attached) at least they would be adding MLBers who will help not only this season, but for the next season and maybe even more. Something like a Keller/Bednar package for example.

Cease is the opposite of the starters the Jays have built around
He’s a high strikeout , high walk guy

The Jays prefer pitchers who don’t walk guys and force the other team to string hits against their elite D

Cease also I have a down year which seems to be his MO every 2nd year

However I do agree the Jays need an ace . Against every playoff team we would be entering game 1 with the 2nd best starter for that game

The problem is outside of DeGrom I don’t see anyone out there who fills that role who’s available - and with Texas winning now he won’t be available either

Back from an extended holiday, happy to see the Jays be consistent (postively) for the first time in years. Everything is clicking and guys are playing up to potential offensively, because the SP has been the same quality for the last 3 seasons basically.

This really should be Atkins final kick at this (though of course it won’t be), he has to pick guys up to supplement the roster and be those difference makers down the stretch and in the tight playoff games that means 1 run less or more in a critical game. Santander and Varsho back soon enough. But yes another feared bat, can never have enough pitching, and maybe a couple more depth experienced veterans scattered around the lineup.

Also, easier to acquire guys/have guys come here when they’ll likely be on the team and in Toronto for basically only 3 months and, have a chance to go a decent length into the playoffs. So getting guys won’t be the issue, it’s the right ones and the right mix.

Well which Gausman do we get tonight? If he can start the slider in the zone and have it drop out he’s ok, but if that’s an uncompetitive pitch out of his hand it’s a struggle.

Why does Detroit have so many different start times for games? Pick a lane and stay in it.

Kirk pulled as an injury precaution.

Edit - And then Vlad does Vlad things at 3rd. I don't like this inning any more.

Instead of bases loaded with one out, Vlad essentially solo kills an inning. #### me, is he frustrating sometimes.
