Yak has been a healthy scratch, and often an non-factor, in Hitch's physical "system"...IDK how hard the 'Hawks pursued Yak, but, he'd have been a better fit in the 'Hawks uptempo, motion, offense, than in St. Loo's "heavy" style.

Vancouver is however, gorgeous from June to September and definitely is fantastic to visit in the summer where you can stay in the city or take a short trip to the islands or interior.
Being pretty though, does not make a city world class.

London, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, New York... world class.
Vancouver? Uh, no.

We've certainly strayed from "cities nicer than Vancouver" to "World Class".
Let's put it this way: to live in, Calgary >>> Vancouver >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Edmonton

Yak's problem has always been between the ears. Has the heart, and legs, and shot -- but if you don't know where to be, and where your line mates will be...
His best shot in this league is with a team that plays a simple fast system, with a line mate who does all the thinking and passing.

so nice to come to the e=ng thread and read about...Vancouver?
I just want to add that I was informed by some tier 1 fans that the greasers had the hardest schedule of any team in the nhl, by far. not even close, not Winnipeg nor calgary nor Vancouver. Edmonton.
high expectations on the rest of the season.

Well, here's hoping St. Louis kicks the tar out of them tonight.

I'm sorry, but, no, Vancouver is NOT a world class city except in the mind of its own citizens. I have lived in this city (Vancouver) for the last 15 years; and it has nothing compared to the other truly world-class cities I've lived in (San Francisco, London England). I've also spent a long of time in Hong Kong, and lived in Montreal and Calgary (but the latter two don't count as world-class).

my response to Spector
Come on Spector, you sound like you could be the next focus of the TV show intervention.
The Oilers are pretty much McDavid and Draisaitl and not much else. They have poor organizational depth, outside of McDavid and Draisaitl they are horrible at developing players and McDavid just needs someone to open the gate for him.
No team in the NHL is looking at the Oilers rebuild and its long road of misery and saying "Conswarnit that's how it should be done"
Quit snorting the koolaid man, drugs are bad mkay

There is one lesson the Avs could learn from the Oilers... Just because someone helped you win multiple Cups as a player doesn't mean you should just make him your GM or head coach.

"Suck so bad they change the draft lottery odds because the league gets sick of you picking 1st overall."
"Then finish a little higher in the standings, fluke out and get the best player to come through the draft in 10 years."
"Then still suck, but at least you have a generational player to carry the suckage up to the middle of the standings."
Lesson over Sakic, did you get all that?
