Can 24th street accomodate that traffic? Wouldn't this increase traffic on 18th street which much already be getting congested from Quarry Park and only go to grow exponentially?
|
24th street is being expanded into a 4 lane thoroughfare as we speak, with designs to tie into the Glenmore / Ogden Road interchange.

Still - that seems like a hefty increase in traffic as well as the impact on 18th.

So when those roads tie into 24th I can see that new traffic circle being a joy to use lol

And if you want to head south to Deerfoot, have fun at the lights south of 18th Street/107th Ave. It's already a massive bottleneck.

wont be any issues with that traffic circle once things are all built. Will be a dream compared to the gong show trying to turn across Shepard road or getting across across Glenmore.
The only thing that is a issue as far as I can see is the south end of 24th, especially with the new developments in QP

As nice as the Glenmore/Ogden interchange will be when done, it's going to completely eff my route to work in the meantime.

As far as interchange construction goes, it might be not too bad really. There's lots of room to just let traffic use the existing lanes, for the most part.

I think you are right, with the interchange being realigned to the west, the only disruption will likely on the north and west side of the road, which could be easily counteracted by shifting the intersection over a lane or 2 temporarily.

I suppose its too much to hope for but will the Glenmore upgrade/overpass eliminate the lights at Barlow?

Well its really the trains that mess it up anyways, eliminating that fixes it.

True, but I often come up Shepard to Glenmore, and of Glenmore, Ogden and Shepard, I know which road is going to get the lowest priority for keeping traffic flowing. S'alright though. Badly needed upgrades.

I really thought that once the SE leg of the ring road was opened that traffic on deerfoot would improve during rush hour and later, but it really hasnt.

How in the hell is Glenmore Trail by 45th Street going to accommodate 5 lanes in each direction?

There is room to the south, on the Tsuu Tina land.

There is loads of room between the existing Glenmore alignment and the casino. I can only assume that this is some of the land that was acquired in the big land deal.

There's definitely less truck traffic on Deerfoot now, but as long Deerfoot is the most direct route for most commuters, why would they change their route?

Previous to the SE leg opening I would almost never use Deerfoot to get to work. Now that I also see less truck traffic I have started using it again. So fewer trucks but more people like me I suppose.
