Any word on where Dadonov is headed? He has had three solid seasons in Florida, (25-22-47 65 gp last year), just over 30, so there are some good years left.
He's bound to be able to give some team that could use a little more offense (cough) a lift.

Only thing I've seen about him was a rumour yesterday about re-signing in Florida

I find it really weird the Flames havent made any quality depth forward signings yet.
Like the Wallmark and Vesey signings for example.

Probably tells me they want to sign a bigger fish first before they decide on the little guy values they want to fill in with. You don't want to say you missed out on a bigger guy because you signed a 4th liner for $1.5MM when you should've allotted $700,000 for that slot.

I suspect Lucic starts on the 3rd line and I can’t say I disagree. He’s still a solid player in his own end, on the offensive wall, and in the scrums.

Lucic is still a positive contributor on the third line for sure.

I'd very much be in favour of getting the Hoff
Tkachuk - Monahan - Lindholm
Gaudreau - Backlund - Hoffman
Dube - Bennett - Mangiapane
Lucic - Ryan - Robinson

If Hoffman can be had on a 1 year deal, sure.

I bet we have some discussions going with guys like Granlund, Hoffman, Haula etc but are really low ball short term type offers. Waiting to see who does their rounds and takes one.

2020/2021 Trade Speculation and Rumours
As it stands today, Markstrom and Tanev don’t make up for all the depth the Flames have lost - especially Brodie who was probably the team’s best overall defenseman. Tanev is not even close to making up for that, and probably becomes a whipping boy fairly quickly. Coaching is still highly questionable.
I’m hoping there’s more moves to come because I don’t see a playoff team in this group.

Giordano had a bad playoff but he was by far and away the Flames' best defenseman this year

Dadonov on a 3 year deal would be the best available option out on the free agent market right now.
Hoffman has a game breaking shot, that’s for sure - but his poor 5v5 play doesn’t really help address our 5v5 issues that already exist at the top end of our roster.

I 100% agree that Tanev is a big downgrade on Brodie, and when playoff success is the goal, getting rid of the best playoff performer among defencemen definitely does weaken the team.
However, I definitely see a playoff team right now. I think Markstrom will help the Flames get a few wins, and though Rittich isn't a starter (yet anyway), that's a high-quality backup.
As for Ward - he was also not my first choice and we have all seen mistakes that he has made. However, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt this year. I am going out on a limb and assuming that he didn't have the time to properly implement the system that he wanted the Flames to play. Let's see what he does with this team and how this team responds.
I think it is a playoff team, and I think it can make some noise. Just has to all come together. I am not sure that Treliving is done adding/changing the roster either - of course there will be a couple more depth guys signed as well as PTOs that could make the team, but I will wait until preseason/start of the season to definitively state my opinion one way or the other. I like the team the way it is right now, I think Brodie is going to be a HUGE hole for this team, I think the Flames upgraded well in net, but I also think this team took a hit on depth as well.
Too early for final judgments still - at least for me.

It’s a toss up and I could see a case being made for either player. But Gio looked horrible after the stoppage and at his age it’s a complete question mark whether he’s able to bounce back. Over the course of the season Brodie was more important to the team IMO.
All this to say that I think we’re going to miss Brodie’s play a lot, and it seems to me like the best we can hope for with Tanev is a guy who is maybe still able to play in the top 4. It’s entirely possible he becomes a whipping boy in fairly short order and doesn’t add anything more than what we had with Hamonic.
Still way too many questionable holes on this team for me to believe that going from Talbot to Markstrom makes them significantly better. They might very well be worse.

Dadonov can still score 25 for you. Had 60 and 70 point seasons before this year. Will come cheaper than Hoffman, probably less of a liability too.
Wouldn't mind getting Cali's take on him.
But I've been on the Russian Daddy train since the cup was awarded.
