Mine was $750 back in the '80's. You can buy used ones for under a grand. It's from 1972ish. Registering for races is always fun. No, just the four digit sail number. I know everyone has 6. I only have the four. I can make up a couple extra digits for you if you really want.

Yes, opioids can be a big problem, but the solution isn't forcing people to suffer with nothing but Tylenol. These options do need to be carefully managed, but if he's in that much pain, it might be worth discussing his concerns and looking into them with a medical professional who specializes in pain management.

Spinal stenosis happens when the spaces in the spine narrow and create pressure on the spinal cord and nerve roots. The spinal cord is a bundle of nerves that comes out of the base of the brain and runs down the center of the spine. The nerve roots branch out from the cord. The narrowing usually occurs over time and involves one or more areas of the spine:
He sees a pain specialist on a regular basis. This is in co ordination with his surgeon. Both work together in his treatment. The pain is due to the compression of the spine and pressure on the nerves. If this latest round of surgery doesn't work they are talking about doing a spinal cord stimulator implant from Boston Scientific.
Finally, Tylenol is his choice and is not forced on him.

I can see how it would be confusing given that the misconception is that one should be bankrupt as a result of owning pre-owned Land Rover products and therefore since I'm not bankrupt I must be rich, but I'm just a savvy vehicle buyer who maintains their vehicles and has the technical background to know how buy something from that brand that isn't going to blow up.
If I ever get to 'fuсk you'-money, you'll know, because I am going to have a field day on LinkedIn.

Sounds exactly like something someone with 'fuсk you' money would say.

I think quite often your "average" well-off professional can afford to have one baller characteristic while the rest of their life is pretty normal. Some guys like fancy cars. Others might have a cool vacation property or buy a fancy primary residence. Or get super into food/wine at a high level. I travel internationally pretty extensively at a fairly high standard but have a regular house/car.
The only time in my life I've felt like a billionaire was in Thailand, where everything was so cheap I never bothered asking the price on anything.
In terms of how much is too much I'm not sure I agree $10MM-$20MM would be the upper limit where I'd stop getting incremental enjoyment. Flying private is super expensive and I'm pretty sure I'd enjoy that more than commercial flights...

That’s a steal. I can’t even find a laser to strap to my shark’s head for $6000 on its own.

Hey, my "vacation property on Vancouver Island" is none of those things. First of all, it's not on Vancouver Island. Second, the thing I'm building sits on property I do not own - it's family property, but I'm not on title. Its monetary value essentially doesn't matter, because none of the plots of land there or anything on them can be transferred to anyone other than the direct descendants of my great-grandfather. Also it's like 90% just... woods. As a result all the money I'm pouring into building it can't be recovered, except to the extent I airBNB it for a couple weeks a year, which might net me a few thousand but will never get close to covering the building costs. It's essentially the same thing as the boat everyone is talking about - a hole you dump money in for the hope of enjoying your time spent in said hole.
It's also not a vacation property, really. You could characterize it as a retirement property that I'm just building early with the tradeoff of being hilariously house-poor (such that I am not among those you'll see at Model Milk). But really it's just my inevitable contribution to the family enclave. My great grandparents built a house there, then my grandparents, then my dad, then my cousin, next my brother and probably my other cousin. So it's more like my place in Calgary is my "work property", it's the only thing I can actually sell for money. And when I do, I will have one small house and at most a joint interest in the property on which it stands, and if everything goes to plan, a small and manageable mortgage.
Not only don't I have "#### you" money, I have "God I hope nothing bad happens" debt.

I wonder if cults have as much internal strife and drama as my extended family sometimes does... Probably, right?

I think it's easier to excommunicate someone from a cult than get rid of a family member from the dinner table.

Well, you must like your family way more than I like mine if you voluntarily built a property on land you share with them...

I mean, not enough that I don't want to have a separate building I can retreat to and... yknow... lock.
Also "old money" doesn't apply to a family of almost exclusively teachers and librarians.

You must not understand how this works, the internet has passed judgement on you with little to no knowledge of the actual happenings in your life.
That is who you are know, old librarian trust fund wooded compound family guy.

How do I join the cult of Corsi librarians?
Is there a basement sex dungeon involved? I don't want to waste my time.
