Alex Smith was placed on the IR. Complications with the shoulder he had surgery on last season. Wonderful first round pick. Soooo, who are the promising QBs in the draft next spring?
And the details of Brady's injury came out today. Torn MCL and ACL. Surgery in a month then 6-9 months rehab.

Indianapolis Colts starting defensive tackle Ed Johnson was arrested early Wednesday on a drug possession charge.
Colts president Bill Polian said the team was still gathering facts about the case before determining how it will discipline Johnson, but Johnson will not play Sunday at Minnesota.
“He will not play this week, for sure,” coach Tony Dungy said.
Polian said Johnson was stopped for speeding between midnight and 1 a.m. on Interstate 465 just north of Indianapolis. Police also charged him with marijuana possession.

Former Broncos LB Al Wilson officially retired from the NFL today. You might remember he suffered a neck injury late in the 2006 season and sat out all of last season. In the end, even though he was cleared to play, he felt the risk outweighed the reward of trying to continue his career.
One of my all time favorite Broncos, probably my third favorite ever. One hell of a leader. Good luck 56!

The Colts aren't even messing around. Johnson will be cut.

I remember the play it happened on, a quick slant where he stuck his hands out and met the safety's helmet. Fox showed him on the sidelines in obvious pain, still he came back and played the rest of the game. Time for former first rounder Robert Meachum to step up, also the Saints added DT Alvin McKinney late of the Broncos, and IR'ed Hollis Thomas.

You guys had your chance at a franchise QB and blew it. You stay away from the promising college QB's in this upcoming draft. The Chiefs are going to need one.

It's weird, because I absolutely can't stand him when he fills in for Rome, but I love his articles. Kinda like how I hate mushrooms but like mushroom soup. It's all very perplexing...

Words from Vince Young on the matter.
I wish people would lay off him. He's human like you or I and he didn't do anything to make people question his commitment and attitude, let alone his mental stability. Honestly who hasn't gotten pissed off and just needed to get away from it all?

Aren't the people that are "on him" his family and team? If they are the ones concerned about him I think that it would be more than getting pissed off and needing to get away from it.
I am sure we all have gotten pissed off and needed to get away but I doubt that most of us have had the people close to us call the cops when we did so.
I also haven't seen much from fans and media questioning his commitment to the game. It seems they are more questioning his ability and readiness to be a starting QB in the NFL. As well as questioning some decisions that he has made along the way, which all seems completely fair to do to a NFL player.

Uh no, the media is.
Also they panicked and called the cops right away. First thing I'd have done was, I don't know, maybe call some friends and see if they've seen him. Just a thought.
And of course they're questioning his ability and readiness. The kid comes in and leads the Titans to an 8-8 record for the first time in forever and then starts to have some growing pains, pains that everyone knew would come with his mechanics and footwork. Fact is he's a young QB, and there's a growing process to the whole thing. Few players step right in and are amazing right off the get go.
People just need to leave him alone. Go after players who go out and shoot people and get caught on drug possessions. Vince Young is a good kid and he just needs time to grow into his groove.

There was a lot of talk on Jim Rome yesterday that Young has some bad hometown friends, and he needs to drop them.

But the fact remains that panicked or not that was still a legitimate reaction by the people close to him. Something is going on with him whether or not it is bad enough to call the cops something is going on.

He has shown other issues than just his physical abilities. The Whitlock article points out numerous of concerns pre-draft. His reaction after his first year and comments on wanting to quit show some other concerns and now his reaction during and after the Jacksonville game show yet some more concerns.
I realise that you are a VY and Titans fan and want to think the best but when there is this many incidents at some point you have to say it isn't always a misunderstanding and isn't always the media's fault and that something might more might be going on than a kid getting frustrated.

People have been leaving him alone. The media has been handling this just fine and if anything have given him the benefit of the doubt way more than he should have because of his physical gifts.
I don't think that he should be attacked by any means but ignoring a guy that has shown signs of needing more help than just growing into his groove is irresponsible.
I think that the majority of the push should come form the team and his family but the media certainly has done nothing wrong other than to report what has happened so far.
Not sure what it is exactly that you think they have done that is so bad t VY?

Ravens/Texans moved to Monday Night because of Ike:

Good news for me, as I have tickets to the game, and there was no way I would make it in for Sunday!

Ummm....may wanna re-think that stance.
Quote:
Both Fisher and Young have said what happened Monday night was overblown by the media. But the supplemental report filed Tuesday by Nashville police showed that Fisher was worried what his quarterback might be doing after the call from Young's therapist.
"I asked him, 'What made her worry about him?' " Lt. Andrea Swisher wrote. "He stated, 'His mood, his emotions, he wants to quit, and he mentioned suicide several times.' He went on to state that he left the house with a gun."
|
Quote:
The Titans' head of security notified police around 7:30 p.m. that he had a player "going off," and Fisher was in his truck when he saw Nashville police writing a report on a separate incident.
Young's manager, Mike Mu, told police he had tried to follow Young when the quarterback left his home. But Mu said he couldn't keep up with Young on Interstate 65 despite driving 90 mph
|
Not the kind of behaviour that screams out for "give the guy some space" kind of reaction.
I would say that Vince Young, whom I never believed was destined to be a great NFL QB myself, should just step away from the game for the balance of this year and get some help. Obviously he has some bigger issues in his life that supercede anything to do with football.
