What the heck is going on with Vince Young?
Quote:
Metro Police issued a bulletin for officers to be on the lookout for Titans quarterback Vince Young on Monday night after Coach Jeff Fisher expressed concern about his emotional well being.

Young had a handgun in the glove compartment of his vehicle, but it was not loaded and Aaron said officers had no concerns about Young trying to harm himself.

According to 124 the whole thing is blown out of porportion. He was depressed about his injury and left the house. His family coudn't get a hold of him because he left his cell phone at home. They contacted the police. The reporters have police scanners and picked up on the story.

But that's the thing - why is the family so concerned that they called the police?
Young was quoted about thinking about quitting football after his rookie year;
Quote:
"I really thought long and hard about it," Young said on Thursday after practice. "There was so much going on with my family. It was crazy being an NFL quarterback. It wasn't fun anymore. All of the fun was out of it. All of the excitement was gone. All I was doing was worrying about things.

Young just doesn't strike me as a sound individual. Offensive rookie of the year, he contemplates quitting. Depressed from an injury, his family gets worried and calls the police.
I'm not wishing him ill, but I'm not sure I would trust him to be there for my team every week.

Well as someone who has first hand experience with being around someone with OCD....this type of thing is pretty common. It could be Young's family who's a bit more unsound than he is type of thing.

Fair enough. I just had heard things like this about Young before (just rumours), and when his family and coach start calling the police to find him and they meet at an athletic field, it almost become a "where there's smoke" type of thing.
I hope not, for eveyone concerned.

In Tennese you are allowed to have a gun in a vehicle if it is not loaded so the police weren't cocerned

IMO that is a stupid thing to say, there are plenty of wealthy people who do stupid things and harm themselves. Money does NOT solve everything.

That's probably why Etheredge was fired by T.O. the day after she said it. He was quoting something from an incident back in the 2005 season.

Crap - in a 16 team league, there aren't many quality replacements.

Are people writing off the Pats too quickly?
There is still a great deal of talent there:
The O-Line has three pro-bowlers
The D-Line has three first rounders
Moss, Welker, Maroney
Then there is Bill
Somehow, I think they will still compete for the AFC crown
SD JKV, and IND may not be as good as we thought - PITT looks good, even DEN

The story is growing....
Quote:
The mother of Titans quarterback Vince Young said he indicated he doesn't want to play football and is "hurting inside and out."
|
Quote:
His mental state has been in question since being booed Sunday after his second interception during the Jacksonville game. He didn't want to go back into the game until prodded by Fisher.
|
Quote:
Young didn't go to the team's offices Monday and postponed his MRI exam until Tuesday. He met with a psychologist at his home Monday along with Fisher and another team official.
Four hours of uncertainty followed Monday night when Young left his home without his phone, prompting someone at his home to call Fisher. He called police to help find the quarterback and had a meeting late Monday night with Young and police crisis negotiators at the team's headquarters.

Writing the Pats off? No I dont think so...but their road just got a whole lot tougher.
Let Vegas show somewhat the loss of Brady on NE.
From Aug 28th when everyone was healthy...
Quote:
The odds at Bodog list the Patriots as 7/2 favorites to win it all, putting them significantly ahead of the pack. Up next are the Cowboys at 6/1, the Chargers at 7/1 and the Colts at 15/2. Fans of the defending champion Giants may feel a bit disrespected; they're listed at 20/1.
|
Now? They are 15-1.

Yet it was all they could do to beat the pitiful Kansas City Chiefs at home. If Bowe could catch they may have lost. I wouldn't call any team that struggles with the Chiefs a power house.

Just the change in the mental state of the team alone without the supreme confidence that Brady brings to them is something Pats fans have to be concerned with.
I think they can be a playoff team. No question. Beyond that, I'm not willing to predict anything.
