LSU v. OSU
Hawaii v. Georgia
OK v. West Virginia
USC v. Illinois
Kansas v. VT
I'm disappointed about the Georgia (i'm a fan) but I hang the blame on the SEC not the BCS. Also, Kansas getting picked over Mizzou is bullsnot.
Also, if Hawaii makes the game with Georgia even remotely close I will give them tons of credit, georgia is a great program...startling stat was that they have 10 wins in 5 of their last 7 seasons...that's pretty amazing in the SEC.
Also, look at new year's day.

If you say so.
What has LSU done lately to prove that they can blow out a team?
FACT: Ohio State is a better team than Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, etc. that LSU barely got by. Several of those were at home too.
LSU might win, but no team running a pro style offense is going to be blowing Ohio State's top ranked defense.

A healthy LSU with a month to game plan can beat anybody in the country. I'm not saying LSU will win 55-10, but a sound 3 TD win is possible.
OSU is #1 in total defense, staunch no doubt.
LSU is ranked third in total defense, not too shabby.
OSU played 2 teams (Penn State, Michigan) in the top 30 in total defense. LSU played 4 (Va Tech. Auburn, Mississippi St., and Alabama) and beat them all. I suppose those stats are inflated due to the lack of offense in the SEC.
Wait...How about playing teams in the top 30 offensively?
LSU played 3 (Florida, Arkansas, Kentucky) overall, 1-2 with two triple overtime losses. LSU is in the top 30 total offense as well (#21).
Ohio State? Zero, they played nobody in the top 30 total offense. Where is Ohio State's offense ranked? #58.

Scheduling cupcakes? Well, Ohio State plays that game too (Youngstown St., Akron, Kent St.) I'll hand it to them for scheduling a tough Washington team in Seattle. (I really do like U-Dub, they disappointed me this year.) I think Virginia Tech is a bit more of a handful than Washington, even if it was at home.
Strength of schedule? LSU 26, Ohio State 43
Ohio State bowl record vs. the SEC (since 1980) 0-7...
Granted, you can find stats to back up any claim, I just provided these to defend LSU against the claims of somehow being "overrated."
I guess we'll just have to see when they meet in the Superdome.

HAWAII is prolly going to get killed because though they were undefeated, their schedule is much easier than a lot of the other teams. however, I hope they win! They're so much fun to watch and they're from the WAC, which is where I graduated from, so go WARRIORS go!

Even though the Illini will probably get slaughtered by USC, I'm jacked that they're in a BCS bowl. It's their first bowl game since '02 I think, when they played LSU in the Sugar Bowl.

Let's be honest here about hawaii. As much as I'm glad they made it to a bowl and if they keep it within 2 touchdowns i'll be shocked, I don't get where all the love is from. They beat a 4-9 washington team who went 2-7 in the Pac-10 at home by a touchdown in the last minute of regulation.
I do'nt know if they have much of a chance against a top 5 team in the country.
Here's hoping they give them a good game though.

Those are about the worst match-ups they could have. Only one of these games might be close (Kansas vs. VT) and none of them are all that compelling.
I will be interested to see how Hawaii does against Georgia but would be interested to see Hawaii play anyone.

washington almost beat USC. anything can happen, and as if georgia isn't thinking it's a guarenteed win for them. Georgia is the huge favourite, but once again, in a one game deal...

I think that Hawaii will put up points against Georgia, especially in the dome.
The key guy for Hawaii will be Matt Stafford. He has the ability to keep any opponent in a game although seems to have been better this year.
The love is from the fact that they play a fun system to watch and from Boise St. last year.

All of that means little.
I know LSU's resume is more impressive than Ohio State's. No one is going to deny that.
LSU may have made a pretty tough schedule, but they didn't look good doing it. Like I've been saying, they haven't won a game against a BCS opponent by more than a touchdown since South Carolina in September. Ohio State didn't play great competition, but they beat down everyone in their path. Their only loss was their only close game.
You can say OSU is 1st in total D and LSU is 3rd, but that's misleading. Ohio State gives up 58 less yards per game than LSU - that's the same difference between 3rd and 35th. Oh yeah, 9 less points per game too. LSU's offense is better, but by about 50 yards per game and 6 points effectively cancelling out Ohio State's defensive advantage.
What Ohio State did in the 80's with different players, different coaches, etc., etc. is irrelevant. I really hate when people bring up stupid stuff like that.
LSU played Tulane, Middle Tenn. State, and Louisiana Tech. And people complain about Ohio State playing cupcakes. At least they do it based on helping fellow Ohio programs get some national spotlight.
I find it funny that so much is made of how crappy Ohio State's schedule when they're only 17 spots lower in Strength of Schedule than LSU...and had a better record too.
I'm not saying Ohio State is sure to win, but a 3 TD win seems excessive for LSU. They can hardly beat a BCS opponent by 7 on a weekly basis, but they're going to destroy the best defense in the country? Ohio State's given up 21 points once this season, but all of a sudden they're going to lose by that much? I doubt that.
And for those who think the fact that the game is in the Superdome, think again. LSU has lost at home already this season. More importantly, Ohio State fans travel as well as any in the country. For bowl games, tickets are split 50/50 in availability for both teams so don't be surprised when half the stadium is cheering for Ohio State.

For tickets made available to the schools, yes, theyre even, however, that does not make up the entire number of tickets sold. A huge portion of the tickets are available to the local businesses and sponsors.
My friends at OSU and alum are worried about the effect the location will have. There will be a good showing of OSU fans, but I think LSU will outnumber them comfortably.
As for the teams - I dont buy OSU. You made some very good points JayP, but they beat teams handly that just arent very good. The beautiful thing is - we'll see in a month who's right.

I'm anticipating a 65-35 or 60-40 LSU split.
I understand that most of the teams Ohio St. beat aren't very good, but they beat them easily every week. And when they did play good teams (Wisconsin, Michigan, Penn St.) they beat them with ease too. They haven't proven enough yet, but I think they deserve the benefit of the doubt that they'll be in every game and no team in the nation is going to blow them out. Especially a team like LSU who hasn't proven they can blow people out recently.

Of a 75k stadium about 35k are offered to each of the schools, about 5 to 10k at the most are offered locally. For BCS games anyway.
Besides that, OSU will find ways to get their mitts on many of those local tickets. They travel better than any team in the country.

Better than Notre Dame? Michigan travels well too... basically because no one wants to live in Michigan.
No one sticks around in Ann Arbor/Michigan or South Bend... I would say those two are in the conversation.
