The Oilers walked the Flames last year when they were actually good and you think they won’t this year? Interesting take.

Just want the Flames to shock me and make a decision about their goaltending, whether thats move out markstrom or at least making Vladar the defacto starter
Their patience for ineptitude is impressive
I can't imagine being the guys that have to wear the colors and represent the group, and still be putting up with this #### this many games in
Hopefully Treliving eases our suffering soon
Also I hope the players aren't too discouraged. 98% of that game was a great night from them

Except his last start. They were crap. And then much better for Markstrom on Saturday. And good tonight until 58 minutes. So who knows any more.
I agree obviously they should give Vladar the bulk of games. Play Markstrom as backup, same formula as normal. Salary? Just look at total goaltender salaries and forget about who makes what.

Only if Markstrom starts.
If Vladar starts we would beat Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Vegas and a fighting chance against the Stars and Avs.

I try to not to be too critical of any one player because, while this one was almost completely on Markstrom, it takes a team to suck over a season.
I'm definitely not an apologist though; I was ripping on him in that very post you're using as a grandstand.
Still need to use green text to denote sarcasm I guess.

Don’t look at Markstrom’s record on tight games
It’s easy walkover for whoever

Honestly that 3-2 goal had to be deflating. Flames gave up absolutely nothing all third period.
Senators had 7 shots, and 1 HD chance up until that point of the period.
Then on a unlucky bouncing play the puck lands on a stick in the slot and he gives up just a horrible rebound for a tap in.
Then another bit of a lucky break on a puck retrieval and they make a nice passing play that Markstrom wasn't even close to reading or reacting to, and it's 3-3.
Then you dominate the over time. Have a couple good chances, hit the post.
First real shot against, and not even a solid chance, and boom it's game over.
|
Every player in that team knows Markstrom has been downright terrible all season long. How do you play in front of that and not feel defeated?
Hrudey pumping Markstroms tires for totally average saves in the third tells you what you need to know. Markstrom is so bad the media isn't willing to kick him while he is down.

While Warrener is absolutely teeing off on the team right now for blowing a 2 goal lead with 2 minutes to go.

Just because something happens one year doesn’t mean it plays out the same way the following.
and the flames lost 3 games in that series where it was tied midway thru the third. They couldn’t find that one big goal in those three games.
They were hardly walked.

One of the worst goaltending performances in my lifetime by Markstrom lost that series, combined with Sutter refusing to pull him.

Is it not a theme with these players that they can’t lock it down when they need? Going back to the series against Dallas in the bubble. They can’t put games away.

not listening the positive spin is they are a good team with bad goaltending
just another example of a game the Flames win with AVERAGE goaltending...probably closing in on 10 of those now

You seriously think the Oilers would have 'walked' the Flames if Vladar starting Game 2 and on?? lol

Once the got up by two goals Sutter started rolling the lines and overlaying the 4th line. That to me was a big momentum killer in the third. Hard to put them away with Lucic rolling over the boards to do absolutely nothing.
